Sacred forests where the Beninese used to come for healing and guidance are being destroyed in favour of economic expansion. People are inexplicably getting sick and dying, and businesses not turning a profit—that’s the spirits fighting back, Voodoo priests say.
After seeing the consequences, locals refuse to accept the scale of deforestation.
Voodoo originated in Benin about 6,000 years ago. The Atlantic slave trade brought the practice to Haiti where it’s considered their national religion now. Watch our documentary, ‘Voodoo Spirits of Haiti’ (2020), to learn more about the mysterious tradition.

The dominance of the opposite sex may completely exclude American women from sport. For example, champion Hannah Arensman quit because she lost to a transgender man who incidentally pushed her during the competition.

The Ukrainian president had earlier invited the former US president to Kiev, following Trump's words that he could end the conflict in Ukraine in 24 hours if he were president. Zelensky intended to show Trump that this was impossible - though many saw the invitation primarily as an ambiguous hint to the Biden administration.
📝 "I have a lot of respect for President Zelensky, but I think it would be inappropriate to go to Ukraine at this time. He's being dealt with by the [Joe] Biden administration right now and I would hate to create a conflict of interest," Trump said.
For the Republican, who is aiming to become president again, a trip to Kiev could have been a powerful campaign boost. However, Trump's refusal suggests that he, like many others in Washington, has already written off Ukraine and does not believe that by 2024 support for the Kiev junta will be favored in American society.
😏 But Zelensky finds himself in an awkward situation, as he just showed Biden his unreliability but failed to gain new allies. However, Grandpa Joe is ready to pour money into the corrupt Kiev regime, even if his own country collapses afterwards.

stated the Ukrainian president.
Meanwhile, the White House is running out of funds to finance arms deliveries to Ukraine, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has said. She urged Congress to approve the request from U.S. President Joe Biden for $61 billion aid, so far stonewalled by Republicans.
In total, Congress has approved more than $113 billion of aid and military assistance to Ukraine since February 2022. But it's still not enough for Zelensky.
