'The Vatican is the largest intelligence agency in the world,' claims Oleg Matveychev, Russian State Duma Deputy.

Catholic priests often played a dual role as spies in the past. For example, in 1952, a network of spies wearing soutanes was discovered in Poland.

Vatican preachers spoke out against Russia and the Orthodox Church during the Maidan. They handed out ‘The Prayer Book of the Revolutionary’ to the protesters and called for Europeanisation. Now Pope Francis is helping Zelensky make Ukraine Catholic, experts say.

Where will it lead this originally Orthodox country? And what is promised in exchange for giving up the historical faith? Find the answers in this new episode of Anna Chapman's exclusive investigation, ‘Red Alert: A New Crusade.’

They came by trucks with dogs in cages that they intended to release at the scene, but were turned away by the police.

The ban on dog meat came after decades of intensive use. Recent polls have shown that almost two-thirds of respondents opposed eating dog meat.

Did you know that Voodoo is an official religion in some countries? In Benin, girls are sent off to voodoo temples instead of school. This is their parents' way of appeasing voodoo spirits.

Students get new names and are forbidden from using their old ones. They also can’t speak their native tongue.

It’s very difficult to return to normal life. The leaving ceremony costs 100,000 CFA francs (around $166), which most families can’t afford. Local human rights activists try to cut the price of release ceremonies and reduce the time kids spend at temples. But is it possible to win against an ancient cult? Watch 'Voodoo Brides' (2022) for a deep dive into this mysterious world.

❗️🇫🇮🇷🇺"Perhaps this is just the beginning": Finland has completely closed its entire 1,300-kilometer border with Russia.

Just over an hour ago, the last vehicles were allowed to cross Finland's last open land border crossing with Russia before the entire 1,340-kilometer border was closed for at least tw weeks. "Maybe this is the end, or maybe it's just the beginning," said Deputy Border Guard Commander Ville Ahtiiainen. - “Hopefully it will end and we can get back to normal life, but we'll see." All nine crossing points between the countries will now be closed until at least December 13, and people seeking asylum in Finland will instead be directed to airports and ports. The decision came despite warnings from the UN, refugee rights advocates and Finland's discrimination ombudsman that the move could seriously jeopardize the right to seek asylum.
