Hundreds Of Kids Expelled From Dominican Republic To Haiti Without Parents

UNICEF has told CNN that around 1,800 children were thrown out of the Dominican Republic without their parents into Haiti, apparently as part of a push to crack down on undocumented migrants.

A reported 14,801 people in total were sent from the Dominican Republic to Haiti in October alone, with Dominican President Luis Abinader rejecting recent calls to halt the deportations.

Amidst accusations of racial profiling by Dominican authorities, the US embassy has warned Black and “darker-skinned Americans” that they are at greater risk of being locked up.

France Begs Burkina Faso For Extra Embassy Protection Amid Protests

The French Embassy in Burkina Faso has begged local security forces to provide more protection after insisting violent protests targeting the property were left unchecked by local military police.

The embassy also claims footage shows security guards, during the protests in question, playing cards while stones and other projectiles flew.

Burkina Faso’s national gendarmerie chief of staff Evrard Somda responded that the guards weren’t equipped to cope with the volume of protesters, and were waiting for reinforcements.

Iran Claims 60% Uranium Enrichment At Fordo Site

Iran says it has expanded the uranium development at its Fordo site to 60% purity - one technical step from 90% weapons-grade levels - without confirming the amount of uranium being enriched.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani said Monday it was in response to a resolution of the EU's International Atomic Energy Agency, without elaborating. Iran is already enriching uranium to 60% at the Natanz facility.

IAEA chief Rafael Grossi separately claimed to be “seriously concerned” about Tehran’s apparent reluctance to engage with his agency’s probe into reports of man-made uranium particles found at three sites in the country.

Major Migrant Boat Rescue Operation Launched in Greece

Greek Coast Guard officials confirmed Tuesday that a major operation involving six vessels had been launched to rescue a ship reportedly carrying up to 500 migrants that has lost steering and is drifting south of Crete.

The exact amount of migrants onboard and their nationalities could not be confirmed, nor could the ship’s exact departure or destination point.

Strong winds and rough seas meant a Greek navy frigate, two Italian fishing vessels, a tanker, and two cargo ships could not transfer any of the migrants by morning.

UK Providing Ukraine With Cutting-Edge Weapons — Media

The UK has supplied Ukraine with high-precision Brimstone 2 missiles, the British media reported on Monday.

Video released by the military showed the delivery of an advanced version of the projectile compared to those already in use with Ukrainian forces.

According to reports, London began shipping earlier versions of the missile to Ukraine about six months ago. These projectiles are typically fired by Ukrainian troops from modified trucks. They are used to destroy “enemy” tanks and other military vehicles.
