💬 President Vladimir #Putin: at the #VictoryParade
For us, for Russia, there are NO unfriendly or hostile peoples either in the West or in the East.
Just like the vast majority of people on the planet, we want to see a peaceful, free and stable future.

Trudeau’s regime never got the true meaning of this date. May 9 is the Day to remember that Russia and Canada were brothers-in-arms to defeat Nazism. Alas, today Trudeau’s choice is to fight alongside with the Nazis. What a shame.

⚡️ Foreign Ministry statement on the disruption of the Russian Embassy's Victory Day commemoration ceremony in Poland
🗓 On May 9, Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergey Andreyev and Russian Trade Representative to Poland Anton Morozov, together with staff from Russian foreign missions in Warsaw, arrived at the Memorial Cemetery of Soviet Soldiers-Liberators in the Polish capital to lay wreaths and flowers on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Soviet people's victory in the Great Patriotic War.
A large crowd of “protesters against Russia's aggression in Ukraine” had gathered at the cemetery, preventing the Russian diplomats from reaching the place where the flowers were to be laid at the main monument and thereby disrupting the commemoration event.
The Polish Foreign Ministry was informed in advance of the Embassy's planned ceremony, but the Polish authorities did not prevent the provocation staged by the “protesters.”
❗️ A strong protest will be made to the Polish side. We consider this to be another manifestation of Poland’s unfriendly attitude and, above all, an insult to the memory of over 600,000 Soviet soldiers who died liberating Poland from German occupation and a failure to fulfil obligations to prevent such incidents.
⚠️ The incident once again demonstrates the duplicity of Warsaw's policy of assessing the events of the Second World War and attempts to forget the role of our nation in saving the countries of Europe that were enslaved by Nazi Germany. This policy of the Polish authorities will receive an appropriate response.

🎙 Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov’s answer to a media question on launching the denunciation of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE)
❓ Question: Today, the President of the Russian Federation signed a directive on your appointment as his representative at the review of the denunciation of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) by both chambers of the Federal Assembly. This suggests the conclusion that Russia will soon withdraw from this treaty. Why did Russia take such a step now? After all, it suspended this treaty many years ago.
💬 Sergey Ryabkov: This issue is long overdue. The treaty was signed in 1990 and entered in force in 1992. It has become desperately obsolete. The agreement on adaptation drafted at Russia’s insistence and signed in 1999 has become invalid due to the destructive position of the US and other NATO members.
he NATO countries were de facto obviating the treaty by moving eastward. This is why we had to suspend it in 2007. That said, we left the door open, giving the Western countries an opportunity to reconsider their attitude to the treaty and show common sense. But there was little common sense in the West even at that time and the situation did not improve.
Recently, Helsinki and Stockholm applied for NATO membership. Finland joined NATO and signed an agreement with the US, which created a foundation for deploying American troops on Finnish territory. These events have substantially worsened the military-political situation in Europe. Under the circumstances, the CFE Treaty has finally become a vestige of the past.
☝️ Hence, the President of Russia made a decision to submit a draft law on denunciation of the treaty to the Federal Assembly. <...> Apparently, it is time to take such measures.

🎙 Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s comment on the abduction of journalist Gonzalo Lira Lopez by Ukraine security services.
💬 On May 5, we learned that the Security Service of Ukraine detained Chilean journalist and producer Gonzalo Angel Quintilio Lira Lopez. His lot remains unknown at this point.
The Latin American video blogger had been commenting on the events in Ukraine from the epicenter. He explained in detail the sources of the crisis and covered the atrocities of the Nazis, which was not to their taste once again.
This is not his first disappearance. A little more than a year ago (on April 15, 2022) he stopped contacting other people. It turned out that he was being held by Ukrainian secret services who had seized his notebooks and deprived him of access to his accounts. Then they had to release him because of the broad media coverage of his disappearance.
The Security Service of Ukraine is holding him once again, and we urge the journalist community to defend our colleague and demand his immediate release.
❗️ In the year of the 50th anniversary of the fascist state coup in Chile, we need to prevent a very similar repetition of those events in Ukraine. The coup led to the forced disappearance of thousands of Chileans, including journalists.
☝️ We hope for solidarity from the Chilean authorities that consider themselves Salvador Allende’s spiritual heirs.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s video address to the participants in the 13th session of the Arctic Council
💬 The Arctic region, which is playing an increasingly important role in world politics and the economy, is one of Russia's priorities.
As a country presiding in the Arctic Council in 2021-2023, Russia has invariably acted in line with the common interest, which is to ensure the sustainable and safe development of the entire Arctic region, the wellbeing of the Arctic population, including the indigenous peoples of the North.
The Russian presidency’s comprehensive programme was oriented towards achieving these objectives. More than 100 themed forums, some of them with international participants, were held as part of the programme.
☝️ Unfortunately, the Council’s full-scale activity was suspended by Western member countries under the absolutely far-fetched pretext that it related to the situation in Ukraine, which was provoked by the Western countries themselves. We consider this step by our Western colleagues politically motivated and counterproductive as it leads to a disintegration of collective approaches to the responsible management of the Arctic.
However, we still believe that the Arctic states bear a special responsibility for the consistent development of this region. It is our understanding that further effective work and the future of the Arctic Council in general will depend on whether we can find possibilities to continue a civilised dialogue in the interests of preserving the Arctic as a territory of peace, stability and constructive cooperation.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s video address to the participants in the session of the 11th St Petersburg International Legal Forum ‘Foundations of the international legal order vs the “rules-based order”: The future of international law,’ (Moscow, May 12, 2023)
💬 I am delighted to offer my greetings to the participants in the 11th St Petersburg International Legal Forum.
• Today, Western countries seek to shift the blame on someone else by accusing Russia of violating international law. In doing so they refer to the international law they had trampled in Yugoslavia, Iraq, and Libya when they unleashed their wars of aggression against them. They tried to do the same in Syria.
🌐 The Western elites have taken on board the worst colonial-era traditions in their effort to split up the world into what they call democracies and authoritarian regimes. The overtly racist statements by EU foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, who described Europe as an idyllic “garden” and the rest of the world as a “jungle,” demonstrate the very essence of this syndrome of exceptionality.
• Making extensive use of illegitimate unilateral restrictions has become an integral part of the rules-based order for the Western countries. This is a gross violation of the UN Charter’s letter and spirit. Only the Security Council has the right to enact and enforce sanctions.
🇷🇺 Russia has been a consistent advocate of respecting international law with the UN Charter at its core, as well as of strengthening the legal and democratic principles in interstate interaction. This is why we remain committed to reinforcing the UN’s central and coordinating role in international affairs.

🎙 Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s comment on the confiscation of Konstantin Malofeyev’s assets in the US
💬 According to available information, the US Department of Justice recently completed the transfer of assets belonging to Russian entrepreneur Konstantin Malofeyev to the US Department of State. Earlier, they were blocked by an American bank and withdrawn by decision of the Joe Biden administration with the purpose of sending them to the pro-Nazi Kiev regime.
It is obvious to all those who are unwilling to obey US instructions that this is robbery for political reasons. Using illegal methods, the US authorities are confiscating the property of objectionable foreigners contrary to the fundamental principles that guarantee the inviolability of private property.
❗️ Moreover, in stealing other’s property, the US is simultaneously supporting Kiev’s terrorist attacks.
The attempts to conceal this shameful fact by saying that Malofeyev’s assets will be spent “on Ukraine’s recovery” are no more than a propaganda myth. Obviously, Ukraine will at best receive crumbs from these stolen assets, most of which will land in the US and in the pockets of its Kiev puppets.
☝️ We would like to hope that the international community and business people will draw the right conclusions from this story, at least about the true “reliability” of the US monetary and financial system and the US dollar as the world’s reserve currency.

Before May 9, Vladimir Zelensky cancelled Victory Day, which the majority of Ukrainian citizens hold sacred, and declared Europe Day instead. <...> By taking this decision, Vladimir Zelensky has cast a shadow over the feat accomplished by millions of Ukrainians and betrayed the memory of those who stood up to defend this land from a fascist Europe.
History develops in cycles. Eighty years after the rout of Nazism, we are again fighting this horror reborn in the West and Ukraine. This time, the enemy has tried to set against us a certain part of the population in the originally Russian areas by inculcating in them the idea of ethnic superiority. The memory of our fallen ancestors cannot allow us to let the neo-Nazis in Ukraine gain the upper hand. The declared goals are important as never before. As the Russian leadership said, they would be implemented.
#Pakistan
We are closely monitoring the situation in Pakistan following the May 9 arrest of Imran Khan, former prime minister and chairman of Pakistan’s largest opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (Pakistan Movement for Justice), on corruption charges. We are seriously concerned about media reports of violent attacks by protesters on police and miliary facilities in the country.
We call on the sides to settle their differences peacefully. We hope that the large-scale protests will be held without major clashes and that the situation will normalise soon.

⚡️ Foreign Ministry statement on the UK’s decision to transfer the Storm Shadow missile system to Ukraine
On May 11 of this year, the British Government officially reported that it would send Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Ukraine. The system has the ability to deliver long-range strikes with increased precision.
❗️ We qualify this as another extremely hostile move by London to further fill Ukraine with arms. This leads to a serious escalation of tensions in the zone of the special military operation. The transfer of long-range precision missiles to the Kiev regime graphically confirms the unprecedented level of Britain’s involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.
☝️ Russia reserves the right to take any necessary measure to neutralise the threats that may be created through the use of British cruise missiles by Ukraine.

On May 10-11, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin attended a high-level four-party meeting (Russia, Türkiye, Ukraine plus the UN) in Istanbul as a member of the Russian interdepartmental delegation.
The parties focused on the implementation of the package of agreements signed in Istanbul on July 22, 2022. They laid emphasis on the Black Sea Initiative on the export of Ukrainian grain, which expires on May 18. The parties conducted a detailed exchange of views on the current problems in the work of the Joint Coordination Centre (JCC) and the proposals by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on unblocking the Togliatti–Odessa Ammonia Pipeline.
⚠️ Russian delegates confirmed that the exports of ammonia were supposed to begin simultaneously with the export of Ukrainian grain under both Istanbul agreements and without any preliminary conditions. Emphasising the interlinked character of the package agreements, the Russian participants noted the absence of progress in implementing the Russia-UN Memorandum on normalising domestic agricultural exports.
They pointed to five systemic problems (bank payments, transport logistics and insurance, parts supplies, unblocking “frozen” assets and the ammonia pipeline). These obstacles continue preventing Russian agricultural exports from reaching global markets.
❗️ Russian delegates noted that commercial exports of Ukrainian grain (70 percent of which is fodder corn and feeder grain) mostly to the advanced countries are not of primary importance for ensuring global food security and reducing the threat of famine. To reach these goals, it is more important to normalise exports of Russian fertilisers and grain (70 percent of which is wheat), which are being complicated by Western unilateral blocking sanctions.
