Do you know what a free walking tour is? 🚏

Behind these three words are free walking tours. They are not 100%, the guide's work is evaluated by the participants with a tip at the end. It's a great way to spend a day and learn interesting things about the city for almost 0 euros. The movement began in 2004 in Berlin.

They usually last 2 hours and are held all over the world. To find such tours just type into Google free walking tour and the name of the desired city.
Here are some useful links:
• Free tours by foot
• Freetour
• GuruWalk

If you've been on such tours, share your impressions, links and addresses 👍

You didn't expect it, but it came on its own! A creative guide to creative Barcelona 💯

There's a lot of creativity in Barcelona: the city is developing, new spaces are opening, open-air exhibitions are taking place. So when we saw the guide to creative places by Wgsn, we couldn't pass by. We got a post about what's happening in the city in terms of creativity and nature. And about undiscovered places!

Brands are becoming more than just stores. For example, House of Rowdy, which was founded in 2022. It's an experimental format store and former magazine that was turned into a concept store in Poblenou. It is a community and a space where you can listen to music, look at art and look through books.

Retailers in Barcelona demonstrate a sustainable way of thinking. This goes for children's clothing as well as stores from local manufacturers. Don't overlook these local creators. For example, Paloma Wool, a clothing and accessories brand. They collaborate with local artists and use eco-friendly manufacturing techniques in their production.

Trends of the times are also reflected in the hospitality industry. Boutique hotels such as Yurbban Trafalgar and Casa Bonay combine functionality, comfort and unique design details with an eco-friendly approach. The former functions as an eco-hotel that pays homage to Catalan culture, while the latter retains neoclassical details. For example, vintage tile floors, ceilings, sliding doors, custom furniture and lighting by local designers.

And don't pass by IDEAL, an immersive digital art center that features works by Gustav Klimt, Frida Kahlo and Vincent van Gogh. Not the ones we're used to, but exhibited through various mediums, including audio-visual projections, augmented reality, and holography.

What will change in Spanish life in June? I mean, it’s already changed 🇪🇸

The deadline for filing the La Renta tax return
In June, the deadline for filing the annual income tax return, known as «la declaración de la renta.» You have until June 30 to file your 2022 income tax return at the Agencia Tributaria offices or by phone (by June 29). If you want to pay by direct debit, until June 27.

There are new road signs on the roads
New signs and traffic rule changes will appear throughout the year, but many of them can be seen on streets and highways starting June 1.

New reproductive law for women goes into effect
A law that protects women’s sexual and reproductive rights has come into effect. It includes menstrual leave for those who need it. The leave should not exceed 3 days, but it can be extended up to 5 days if the doctor deems it necessary.

The law also gives the right to leave if a woman is temporarily unable to work due to a pregnancy termination.

The third point is temporary disability due to pregnancy. The doctor can prescribe bed rest or advise not to engage in certain types of physical labor, and give time off.

Telecommunications Law
Spam calls from companies are commonplace. Things may change on June 30 with the new Telecommunications Act. It will protect the legitimate interests of consumers and mobile subscribers, and ban calls that sell or promote something. If you have agreed to some calls, you will still get calls, but there will definitely be fewer of them.

Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ
Also known as the Feast of Corpus Christi, it is celebrated nine weeks after Easter. It is celebrated in different ways from region to region. In some cities they lay patterned carpets of flower petals in the streets, in some there are festivities and processions, and in Barcelona they decorate the city fountains with flowers and put an egg in the water for a «dance».

School vacations begin
In most schools they start between June 20 and 23. Children will be gone for 10-12 weeks of vacation. They will return to school around the second week of September.

New rights for train passengers
Starting June 7, rail passengers will get protections when booking tickets and traveling and more security in case of delays.

Companies must provide travelers with real-time information, and ticket providers must provide passengers with information about irregularities and delays. And will be responsible for ensuring passengers’ rights in the event of trip interruptions.

San Juan Night
On June 23, much of Spain will celebrate San Juan Night. There will be bonfires and fireworks, and in some regions you can try the traditional coca cake, symbolizing the sun. This day marks the birth of St. John the Baptist, and it’s also one of the shortest nights of the year.

Where do you go to sunbathe and lie down if you don't want to touch another person's elbows?

You probably already know about Barceloneta and Vila Olímpica. These city beaches are centrally located and easy to get to, but in summer they are crowded.

Be like the locals! Go to beaches further away from the center or out of town. For example, Badalona has 6 kilometers of beaches. It's easy to get here by train or metro and there aren't huge crowds.

Or you can get to the beach of Bogatell (Playa de Bogatell). It has a beautiful promenade, bars, sun loungers, volleyball courts and other summer activities.

Where do you go to swim, sunbathe, and bask in the sun?

Vegans and sweet eaters in Barcelona, there's good news!

There are vegan doughnuts in the city. They are made by hand in the Cuvo workshop in the Gracia neighborhood. It's been 3 months since they opened, and already the guys are making 500 donuts a day.

A simple sugar doughnut costs 1.80 €, and a slightly more expensive one with fillings. For example, a doughnut covered in white chocolate and filled with pistachio cream costs 2,50€. You can find doughnuts in some supermarkets (e.g. Sorli Discau) and coffee shops (La Papa). Cuvo will soon be available at Glovo.

The world's best restaurant elBulli reopens... in museum format

It was voted the best restaurant in the world several times before it closed more than 10 years ago. It is located in a bay in north-eastern Spain. The museum has been named 'elBulli1846', the name is a reference to the 1846 dishes that, according to chef Ferran Adrià, were developed here.

The museum will open on 16 June, 12 years after the last meal served at the restaurant. There will be photographs, notebooks, awards and replicas of dishes made from plastic.

Under Adria's leadership, elBulli has earned the coveted three Michelin stars and has been voted best restaurant in the world five times by British magazine The Restaurant.

The restaurant operated for six months of the year, during the second half of the year, the staff came up with the dishes. In the final years of the restaurant's operation, demand for reservations was so high that Adria distributed seats mainly through a lottery.
