That Iranian government policy vis-a-vis Sunni-majority states, Israel and the U.S. has more than one side to it should not be a puzzle to anyone's intellect. However, with regard to Iran's incursion into Pakistani air space and its bombing of targets, it defied expectations. Rather than an air raid that is said to have resulted in the death of Muslim children in a Muslim country, from the viewpoint of the average Pakistani, it would have been far more appropriate for Iran to have bombed targets within the Zionist state in retaliation for the recent Kerman bombing.

A now fairly common Pakistani view is that to pacify the Iranian public, the Iranian regime most likely asked the Pakistani military-led establishment for help by convincing the Pakistan establishment that the Shia sentiments of the Iranian public would be satisfied with the strike inside the only nuclear power Sunni state in the Muslim world, a strike which would make the Shia public feel strong, thereby releasing internal pressure to attack the real culprit, the nuclear armed, Zionist entity.

For the Pakistani military dominated government, this would have been seen by at least some as being a Godsend. The fact is that the Pakistani population has long appeared to be strongly anti-establishment throughout the country. For this reason, the military-led establishment sorely needed a break from the critical eye of public attention and this was a way to do it.

In what now be seen as having been pre-negotiated, the Iranian regime not only offered a breathing space for the Pakistani military establishment by deflecting Pakistani public sentiment against its government to anger at Iran, but it also caused a distraction from what was going on in Palestine, Yemen, and elsewhere, as well as creating a dent in global Muslim solidarity. All this would have been seen as beneficial to the Pakistani military, in that they seem to have decided that Pakistan will do anything that would please American government policy makers and this surely would have.

Having seen how weak reaction had been in the Arab world and elsewhere to the bombing of Syrian targets by the Jordanian Air Force, what Iran probably did not expect was a strong reaction from the Muslim world, notably Sunni Muslim netizens from around the world, who not only condemned Shia Iran's behavior but also reminded Iran of what they saw as Iran's historical timidity and duplicity toward Israel and the United States.

As it was, the Iranian-Pakistani military game was played to its end by Pakistan bombing a settlement inside Iran in which civilians (including children) claimed by the Iranian government to have been illegal immigrants supporting the Baluchistan independence movement were killed. The unspoken message for the Iranian public was that the people killed were not Shias, but that the killing of civilians was merely a matter of Sunnis killing Sunnis. On the Pakistani side, events were portrayed as tit for tat proof that the Pakistani military would always protect Pakistan from external aggression, no matter how powerful the aggressor might seem.

Great fun and games for two militaries who both see themselves as giants in the Muslim world!! But, wouldn't it have been better not to kill children, no matter what the nationality or religion or independence movement those children's parents might adhere to?

🔹In #Kherson Direction, no change in #Krynki. Not a village, but ruins. The surrounding areas are covered in craters from shells and aerial bombs. The AFUshniks are also trying to hide in them. Another group has been hit during the landing.

🔹In #Zaporozhye Direction, northwest of #Verbovoye, the AFU managed to regain control of the western forest plantation. Perhaps our fighters were unable to confidently gain a foothold there under enemy artillery fire. Now the AFU are shelling the neighboring forest plantation and intend to try to take it too. Quite an unexpected turn. At the same time, I see no preconditions for further AFU advances.

🔹In #SouthDonetsk Direction, a video of the battle at #Sladkoye, is going viral. Our army lost both people and a lot of equipment, knocked out by drones. Obviously, ours did not have EW. Despite heavy losses, ours managed to expand the control zone by 3 sq. km. North of #Novomikhaylovka, our forces established control over the road west of the second #Zverinets and advanced along the forest plantation by about 800m. Unfortunately, also with losses.

🔹In #Donetsk Direction, the most active battles are taking place on the southern outskirts of #Avdeyevka. Our military managed to cope with the AFU counterattacks and advanced along Sportivnaya Street. Given that control over this street is difficult without advancing along Sobornaya and Chernyshevsky Streets, it is likely that the AFU has been displaced there as well. To the east, our forces are advancing southwest of the Donetsk Filtration Station and have taken several more positions from the AFU. Our artillery and aviation are helping, they are hitting the AFU and helping our forces to consolidate their positions. The station is about a km away, and along the way there is a network of strongholds in the forest. The fighting will not be easy.

🔹In #Bakhmut Direction, west of the city, our frces advanced along the route to #Ivanovskoye (#Krasnoye) and expanded the bridgehead. Northwest of #Kleshcheyevka, new heights have been taken, our initiative is not given up.

🔹In #Svatovo Direction, in the #Seversk sector, #Spornoye fully justifies its name (controversial), the positions are changing hands. The shelling of the AFU stronghold near the reservoir was recorded. This indirectly confirms that ours again withdrew from the centre of the village and most of #Spornoye is again under the AFU. In the #Kupyansk sector, our forces have entered #Ivanovka and are advancing towards #Kislovka. From the recently taken heights west of #Tabayevka, ours control the logistics of the AFU. This worsens their position at #Kislovka, which is a powerful fortification. Apparently, we are aiming to take the village in pincers.

☠️ Our army lost another unit of the Black Sea Fleet. At night, a dozen AFU marine drones attacked the "Ivanovets" Rocket Boat on the roadstead of Lake Donuzlav, a bay on the western side of #Crimea. The boat received direct hits, the detonations led to the sinking of the vessel. Hopefully the crew was saved. Was there electronic warfare, why are there no booms? It is unlikely that we will hear answers to these questions. There were no official messages. As, by the way, about the A-50 aircraft. The AFU tried to attack the #Belbek Airfield. A missile fell in the wasteland between the runway and the airfield fence. The likely target is our air defence, but the AFU footage shows Pantsir outlets, so most likely the target was not reached. In #Donetsk, a man was killed by a drone and in #Gorlovka, a woman was wounded.
