the whole point of democracy is that the people consent to be ruled by choosing who rules them, but is it really consent in the first place if you cannot revoke the consent, or if you cannot consent to being ruled by no one?
people with only shallow understandings of communism will deride the USSR because of their voting system. "can you believe that they would have elections where there was just on candidate on the ballot?"
yes actually I can believe that because the whole point of a single candidate ballot was to renew consent. the candidate had to get a vote from half of his constituency or he would be removed and replaced. if he sucked at his job badly enough that people couldn't be bothered to go out and vote for him then consent was revoked and he no longer was a leader.
if one of the worst political systems can get that right then why are we not able to?
unless maybe democracy is just as bad as communism. hmm.

if I ever became friends with a mortician I would buy him a coffee mug that says "my other mug is a human skull"

me: hey IT guys we have a critical incident here. it looks like a very specific malware artifact was discovered on a file server named "AllOurSecretShit". The malware artifact that was discovered was associated with a known malware named "光荣的艰苦奋斗的中国人民蠕虫" The threat group behind this malware uses a specific known vector to compromise systems. please ensure that the server is not vulnerable to CVE-2016-99999 to prevent reinfection, further, I would encourage you to review network logs to determine what, if any sensitive data was exfiltrated.
lazy sysadm: the EDR says that the file was already deleted so i think we are good to go 👍 closing ticket

I wrote something again: The unexpected affects of stress on your body
on the physical effects of stress, complications of stress caused by autism, and encouragement to help other people reduce stress.

at some point "the sciences" stopped being about wanting to learn more and started being about wanting more proof for whatever you believe, and now we have reddit atheists.
i assume this change happened around the end of enlightenment.
maybe i'll write an article about that.
google is now doing the AI in the search meme and it works decently well. i think maybe 1/3 searches ive done today got me an answer without clicking any links (excluding queries where i am looking for a download link or similar.)
and when i do click a link it tends to be in the AI response instead of in the normal query response list
let me tell you a story as a warning to not be stupid
in 2014 an eclipse went over my house and i decided to try to photograph it using a DSLR camera. DSLRs are the ones where you have to look though a periscope eyepiece to see your target unlike a point and shoot where you just look through the screen. i was using an 80mm lens which is rather large and it was able to zoom in very tightly.
as the eclipse was reaching its maximum i tried my best to angle the camera on its tripod towards the sun and then peeked through the eyepiece to make sure it was pointed correctly.
now, im not dumb enough to just LOOK THOUGH A TELESCOPE AT THE SUN- i was wearing not one, but three pairs of gas station sunglasses. unfortunately when i moved my head to look though the viewfinder two of the pairs slipped down and i LOOKED THROUGH A TELISCOPE AT THE SUN wearing one one pair of sunglasses. i burned my eye but the camera was aligned so i took the picture. i thought i had set the shutter speed to open for the shortest amount of time it was able to open for (1/4000th of a second), but somehow accidentally set it to open for four seconds, causing the cmos sensor in my expensive camera to LOOK THROUGH A TELESCOPE AT THE SUN FOR FOUR SECONDS.
the outcome of this comedy of errors was this:
i later found out that i burned the camera. it has about a dozen stuck pixels now. I also burned my eye. i can still see fine though it but my dark vision in the middle of my eye is messed up. if i need to see something in the dark i have to look at it slightly off of center of my vision because everything is just black for like 3-4 degrees in the middle of my sight.
please buy some glasses designed specifically for looking at the eclipse if you plan on viewing the upcoming eclipse next month.
when you argue with me on the internet this is who you are arguing with btw
Skipper everyone has darker vision in the center of their eye.

I recently requested a report on myself from lexis nexis and some people were interested in what kind of data I got back so ill post it here (not the report its self lol)
The report listed every data source but did not contain the submission date. the only way i could know the approximate submission time would be if the submission was an insurance claim that had a date of the event that spurred making a claim
1. every address ive ever lived at
this was several pages long because it contained duplicates of every address i lived at both for alternate spellings and for multiple sources
2. every phone number ive head
this list was woefully incomplete. in fact it only listed one number. the number was listed in duplicate so many times that it covered more than two full pages. also weirdly it was only reported by one faceless risk analysis company many times. this was the only strange thing in the report.
3. every insurance policy i have held or been on.
i may not have paid enough attention but there was one policy missing.
4. every name ive ever gone by on legal or government documents.
this list included misspellings of my legal name.
the list also was incomplete. no i will not elaborate.
5. characteristics of every house ive resided in
include whether the house was a single family home, apartment etc. as well as the estimated value of the home
6. education records
this was incomplete. it was missing one school and one of the schools listed was unnamed.
7. deeds
8. every insurance claim ive made or was made against me
9. inquiry records to my credit report
mostly prescreening for credit cards.
10. military service

things the report did not include
1. criminal records
2. tax records
3. vehicle activity records (onstar will track things like hard accelerations and hard stops and sell this info)
4. known social media accounts (thank goodness)
5. purchase records
6. firearm records
7. concealed handgun license records
8. records of any other license or identification (ex. passport number)
9. gps records
10. call records
11. known personal affiliates (friends and family)
12. known group affiliates (churches, militias)
13. employment
