Cerridwen, Boann, and Saraswati

A very brief look at the Welsh keeper of the Cauldron of Inspiration, Cerridwen.
The traces of evidence that we have suggest that, like the Irish river goddess Boann, Cerridwen may derive from the same root as the Vedic goddess of inspiration and knowledge, the river goddess Saraswati.

Interesting recent discovery out of Anatolia on the Greek pantheon, a statue dedicated to the Goddess Hygieia discovered. Of note is the fact that this goddess of health is the root of the modern English word “hygiene”.

With harvest well underway in my part of the world, I have written a short prayer to Freyr. Should it resonate with you, I encourage you to use this prayer as you please:
Hail to Freyr!
Lord of Mounds, Sovereign of Elves
He who brings life
Through blood and soil
Hear my words, Horse Lord
Grant us fruit
So that we may offer
Fruit in return
Hear my words, Wielder of Antlers
Grant us life
So that we may offer
Life in return

What’s interesting about this symbol is it’s prevalence in the Nordic Bronze Age. It can be found on all sorts of items, such as this comb from Sweden, on highly decorated razors (both pictured), to even sword hilts. It even represents wheels in other carvings.
However, what is very interesting about this symbol is that it is sometimes used to represent the bodies of certain very large figures in rock carvings. What differentiates these characters? Are they Gods? Warriors of a Solar Cult? We may never know, but analysis of the context this symbol arises in provides hints of its meaning.

Viking Age Seax Uncovered in Sweden
The seax, which is dated to between 700-900 AD, was found recently at an active archeological site in Skälby, Sweden. It was found in a well. The seax’s hilt is remarkably preserved, and features very beautiful knotwork.
Other interesting finds, such as this comb (dated to before 200 CE) have been located at this site, and was likewise found in a well, suggesting these could be sacrificial items at a site occupied for centuries.
Articles in English aren’t available at this time but this article can be easily translated to read more on the find:

Ashvatthama’s Sacrifice of Himself to His Higher Self
“Drona's son [Ashvatthama], armed with bow, and with fingers cased in fences made of iguana skins, himself offered up his own self as a victim unto Mahadeva [Rudra]. Bows were the fuel, and sharp shafts were the ladles, and his own soul possessed of great might was the libation, O Bharata, in that act of sacrifice. The valiant and wrathful son of Drona then, with propitiating mantras, offered up his own soul as the victim. Having with fierce rites adored Rudra of fierce deeds, Ashvatthama with joined hands, said these words unto that high-souled god.
Ashvatthama said, "Sprung from Angirasa's line, I am about to pour my soul, O god, as a libation on this fire! Accept, O lord, this victim! In this hour of distress, O Soul of the universe, I offer up my own self as the sacrificial victim, from devotion to thee and with heart concentrated in meditation! All creatures are in thee and thou art in all creatures! Assemblage of all high attributes occur in thee! O lord, O thou art the refuge of all creatures. I wait as a libation for thee, since I am unable to vanquish my foes. Accept me, O god." Having said these words, Drona's son, ascending that sacrificial altar on which a fire blazed brightly, offered himself up as the victim and entered that blazing fire.
Beholding him stand immovable and with uplifted hands and as an offering up to himself, the divine Mahadeva appeared in person […] the divine Mahadeva entered Ashvatthama's body after giving him an excellent and polished sword. Filled by that divine being, Drona's son blazed up with energy. In consequence of that energy derived from godhead, he became all-powerful in battle.” - Mahabharata, Sauptika Parva, 8

Math fab Mathonwy, the Celtic Savitr-Prajapati and Goewin, Goddess of Night: Part 1 of 2
https://taliesinsmap.blogspot.com/2021/09/math-fab-mathonwy-celtic-savitr.html?m=1
Why does the mysterious wizard Math have to keep his feet in the lap of a virgin at all times, except during war?
Line by line, Welsh Math corresponds to the Vedic solar deity Savitr, who, as the golden germ of light resting in the darkness before sunrise, rests with his maiden Ratri who is Night.
As we will see in the second part, this deity is an important creator god and has important analogs in deities found at the beginning of the cosmos in both later Hindu myth and Orphic theogony.

Sculptures depicting Odin, Balder and Thor. Denoscription below provided by the National Museum in Stockholm, where these sculptures reside.
Three Ancient Norse Gods
"Karl XIV Johan ordered three ancient Norse gods in a colossal format by sculptor Bengt Erland Fogelberg, working in Rome. Odin arrived in Stockholm in 1831, with Thor and Balder delivered in 1845, one year after the king died. When Nationalmuseum opened in 1866 all three stood in the entrance hall.
During the 19th century, ancient Norse motifs were used to strengthen the national self-image after the loss of Finland in 1809. People wanted to safeguard the right to self-rule, and found an idealized image in ancient times, characterized by freedom. The French marshal Jean Baptiste Bernadotte was compared to Odin when he was elected crown prince."

Math fab Mathonwy, the Celtic Savitar-Prajapati, and Goewin, Goddess of Night: Part 2
https://taliesinsmap.blogspot.com/2021/09/math-fab-mathonwy-celtic-savitr_26.html?m=1
Math resting on Goewin, who is Savitar resting on Ratri (Night), is the “Prajapati” of the cycle, and sets the world in motion when he rises as the sun.
As such, he is the Celtic reflection of light-bringing deities found at the beginning of the creative cycle in later Hindu myth, Orphic theogony, and the Norse Eddas:
Vishnu resting on Sesa; Phanes resting on Nyx; Dellingr, third husband of Nott.
