Star-killing black hole is one of the most energetic objects in the universe — and it's getting brighter
Scientists say a jet from a previously studied supermassive black hole has grown brighter, becoming one of the most energetic events in the universe.
The jet — nicknamed "Jetty McJetface" — is emanating from a black hole that was previously studied in 2022, after it picked up a star and began shredding it to pieces, releasing the jet in the process.
Now, some four years later, that bout of "cosmic indigestion" is still going strong, researchers said.
"This is really unusual," Yvette Cendes, an astrophysicist at the University of Oregon who led the study published Feb. 5 in the Astrophysical Journal, said in a statement.

Melinda French Gates breaks silence on explosive claims about Bill Gates in Epstein files
Melinda French Gates, the philanthropist and ex-wife of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, has broken her silence on the latest release of damning documents tied to deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, saying the renewed scrutiny of her ex-husband's associations evokes "very, very painful" memories from their marriage.
In an interview with NPR's "Wild Card" podcast, French Gates addressed the Department of Justice's most recent disclosure of millions of pages of Epstein-related materials, including shocking draft emails from 2013 in which Epstein made lurid allegations about Gates.
One draft accused the billionaire of contracting a sexually transmitted infection from encounters with "Russian girls" and seeking antibiotics that he could administer to his then-wife without her knowledge.

Democrats just gave away the real reason they're fighting immigration enforcement
Democrats have spent years insisting illegal immigrants do not vote, yet Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries just gave the whole game away.
In a letter to GOP leadership, they demanded a slate of "reforms" to immigration enforcement as the price for funding the Department of Homeland Security, including targeted enforcement, no masks, mandatory use of body cameras, and other demands, several of which I suspect are nonstarters.
I don't see Democrats getting anywhere with these, but the big thing is that buried in that list is a rather revealing demand: Protect Sensitive Locations - Prohibit funds from being used to conduct enforcement near sensitive locations, including medical facilities, schools, child-care facilities, churches, polling places, courts, etc.

'Pure hell' - Moscow on Epstein files
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman has accused the Western authorities of covering up global child trafficking linked to the late sex offender.
The Western authorities shielded Jeffrey Epstein's child trafficking scheme, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said, calling newly unsealed US Justice Department files "pure hell." The DOJ published the final tranche of Epstein files last week, including 3,000 personal emails, tapes, photographs, and documents seized from his estate.
Among the documents was a diary belonging to one of Epstein's victims, a teenage girl who alleged that he used her as a "human incubator" to have his child.
According to the diary, the girl gave birth around 2002, aged 16 or 17.

🇺🇸Who is Nouri al-Maliki and why is the US opposing his comeback in Iraq?
The former prime minister's nomination to return to the post has elicited warnings from Washington.
Nouri al-Maliki, a two-term Iraqi prime minister viewed in Washington as being too close to Iran, has been nominated for a third term, prompting US warnings of diplomatic and economic repercussions and sparking accusations of foreign interference in the Arab nation's sovereignty.
So, who is Nouri al-Maliki and why has his likely return to power got Washington's attention?
An early member of Iraq's Islamic Dawa Party, an opposition group under Saddam Hussein's regime, al-Maliki spent 25 years in exile in Syria and Iran before returning to Iraq after the 2003 US-led invasion.

"Unfounded"? RFK Jr.'s "Grain-Free Schizophrenia Cure" Is Backed by 75 Years of Research the Media Didn't Read
Zero.
That is the number of researchers who have published peer-reviewed studies on diet and schizophrenia who were contacted by the journalists who called the science "unfounded." Story-at-a-glance Seventy-five years of peer-reviewed research — including double-blind RCTs published in 2025 — link gluten-containing grains to schizophrenia in an identifiable subpopulation: the 25-30% of patients with elevated anti-gliadin antibodies.
Ketogenic and grain-free diets have produced documented remissions of schizophrenia at Harvard, Stanford, and McLean Hospital, with multiple RCTs now underway or completed.
No journalist who covered Kennedy's remarks contacted any of these researchers.

'I hope I would do the same again': Hero bus driver sacked for chasing down thief who stole passenger's necklace says it's 'all about justice'
A hero bus driver who was sacked after chasing down a thief who robbed a female passenger has told how he hopes he would do the same again.
Mark Hehir, 62, who lives in north London, had been driving the 206 bus between Wembley and Maida Vale in June 2024 when a man brushed past a young woman who was boarding and snatched her necklace before fleeing down the street.
Mr Hehir, who had worked for bus operator Metroline for two years prior to the incident, faced a split-second decision and sprinted after the alleged thief, managing to recover the woman's necklace.
But after the man approached the woman again, he told how he bravely stepped between them and knocked the man out with a single punch in self-defence.

Ed Martin, head of the Trump DOJ's 'weaponization' unit, leaving role
The lawyer leading President Donald Trump's effort to investigate the "weaponization" of the Department of Justice is leaving his role.
Trump had tasked Ed Martin to look into prosecutors who launched investigations into Trump or his allies.
A Justice Department spokesperson told NBC News that Martin would continue to serve as pardon attorney in the Justice Department.
"President Trump appointed Ed Martin as Pardon Attorney and Ed continues to do a great job in that role," the spokesperson told NBC. The Washington Post reported Martin's return to his former role as a demotion.

Plastic surgeons ditch gender ideology - New guidelines rule out medical transition for kids
For years, proponents of pediatric gender medicine appeared to have an ironclad medical consensus behind them.
"Gender-affirming care" — including puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and even irreversible surgeries — was simply a medical best practice.
Many of them claimed these treatments were "life saving," suggesting there was no difference between them and, say, the suite of interventions oncologists might prescribe for cancer patients.
But the consensus was always a mirage — and this week, at least among major US medical groups, it officially vanished.

Security expert: Illegal Minneapolis 'checkpoint' tactics trace back to Marxist, anarchist novements
The eruption of "Signal-Gate" revealed the organizational structure and command-and-control nodes of left-wing activists operating within encrypted messaging apps to unleash pressure campaigns against federal agents in Minneapolis.
This structure is very revealing and, according to some security experts, is deeply rooted in revolutionary tradition.
Anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement checkpoints have sprung up across the sanctuary city of Minneapolis in recent weeks.
These makeshift checkpoints on city streets are operated by left-wing activists who track traffic in and out of specific areas, searching for ICE vehicles, and there are reports from Fox News that some agitators even have the ability to check license plates.

UK: Starmer accused after blaming security services for vetting process that failed uncover Mandelson-Epstein ties
Keir Starmer was dubbed 'morally bankrupt' on Thursday night after blaming MI5 for failing to vet Peter Mandelson properly.
Fighting for survival amid a revolt over his handling of the scandal, the Prime Minister criticised the 'vetting carried out independently by the security services' on the disgraced Labour peer, suggesting the process needs to be looked at.
But his comments provoked a furious backlash as critics pointed out Sir Keir had already approved and announced Mandelson as the new ambassador to Washington before he was subject to in-depth national security vetting.
MI5 did not carry out checks on Mandelson - it was the job of the Cabinet Office, with limited input from spies.

BEST OF THE WEB: "Corruption Isn't Theft — It's Survival Training"
Lessons on corruption from a Russian, and why Westerners come across as naive Silent East on YouTube begins his essay on corruption with the following: When people hear the word corruption, they usually think of money, envelopes, bribes, stolen budgets, officials living beyond their salaries.
That image is convenient because it frames corruption as a moral defect, a flaw in character, a problem of bad individuals inside an otherwise normal system.
And if that were true, the solution would be simple.
Punish the bad people, clean the system, restore order.

WaPo fires hundreds, ends sports reporting, guts foreign, local news
The Washington Post announced its long-rumored mass layoffs Wednesday morning tallying more than 300 journalists — and the official killing of the books, daily podcast, and sports sections and grinding down of local and international sections to almost nothing.
The New York Times pegged the layoffs as "about 30 percent of all employees" and quoted Post executive editor Matt Murray as having told employees on a Zoom that the dramatic altering of the newspaper is "positioning ourselves to become more essential to people's lives in what is becoming more crowded, competitive and complicated media landscape." Murray further said this will leave The Post in position to compete and lead on business, health, politics, the White House, and other domestic affairs.

He can't be this stupid . . . Can he?
The president's strange outbursts grow more frequent.
This happens when the mind begins to slip into the twilight of second childhood, as anyone who has dealt with the phenomenon can attest.
It is either that or the man is incredibly - as in unbelievably - stupid.
Or it is something much worse.

🇷🇺🛸UFO intel documents stolen out of Russia reveal decade-long probes into alien encounters, abductions
Landmark UFO documents smuggled out of Russia 30 years ago — and just publicly revealed — show the Soviets investigated thousands of reports of extraterrestrial craft and encounters with aliens.
Legendary reporter George Knapp, 73, quietly released on Jan. 16 documents he smuggled out of Russia in 1993 under the nose of the KGB after the fall of the USSR in 1991.
The translated documents reveal the shocking extent to which the USSR and the post-Soviet Russian Federation probed the persistent phenomenon — despite the communist government officially deeming UFOs a concoction of war-mongering "American imperialists" in 1953.

Why is the Deep State targeting DNI Tulsi Gabbard with such ferocity?
Each day more and more people are starting to realize/notice there are elements of the United States intelligence apparatus that are targeting Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard.
The need for control is a reaction to fear, and Tulsi Gabbard has the DC Intelligence Community very worried.
What you will read below is something that was written back in 2024 about the potential for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), if President Trump were to win the election.
Subsequently, he did win; and while we are not saying this is the exact ODNI noscript that is being followed, we are certainly not disputing that either.
