#TakeBackOurTech: Linux Mint Feature Tour
Telegram Channel | Telegram Chat | Private Community | Odysee | Hive | Minds
I hadn't used Linux Mint before this series, but I'm impressed by the experience. Easy to use and understand, a clean interface, and just the right level of customization.
Read the article.
(sorry no video) :(
Today we learn how to:
- Create shortcuts to web applications on your desktop
- Watch TV for free using IPTV on the Hypnotix app
- Take snapshots of our system and restore from them at anytime
- Download and use widgets for your desktop, taskbar, and themes
This may be the go-to for those who appreciate the Windows look/feel and want things as easy as they can be.

This past week I discussed a bit of my history and past career with my friend Kurt, from the Beautiful Thought Podcast. I also share a little bit about dealing with dealing with cyber-attacks against the Freedom Cell Network & The Greater Reset early this year, and using those lessons to work on above.market, above-agency, and #TakeBackOurTech .
It was all part of a grand process of surrendering to the universe, committing to the path set in front of you, and trusting yourself enough to accomplish it.
What's coming up next week?
- The official launch of the above phone! Final details will be announced and orders will be officially opened.
- #TBOT will finish off its Operating System Series, finishing with the KDE Neon Feature Tour and FOSS App Survival Toolkit
- We're partnering with a special someone to produce a nationwide tour
Join @neo_network and @takebackourtech to get updates. ❤️
Better get back to it ;)

There is plenty of help out there if you need it. I can do everything I did with windows.
I am now more interested in programs and applications with more privacy.
I de googled my android phone by installing /e

Lots of confusion on this post which is poor insight, first of and Linux is not : it's GNU/Linux
Ubuntu and it's variants ship proprietary blobs in the kernel, proprietary drivers, make available proprietary software via installation ( software manager or other repositaries )
Linux Mint is not a Libre distribution, claiming that is false and to noobs gives them a completly false sense of security and privacy

Why Open Source misses the point of Free Software
When we call software “free,” we mean that it respects the users' essential freedoms: the freedom to run it, to study and change it, and to redistribute copies with or without changes. This is a matter of freedom, not price, so think of “free speech,” not…

Again, you or the FSF do not get to decide what everyone else calls it. That doesnt sound very free to me.
Yes Ubuntu does include proprietary blobs, which are NOT installed by default. Users can CHOOSE to install these to support their hardware - GPU, and network cards. These are important components that help users actually use their systems.
Debian and Fedora also offer official support for proprietary drivers, so no point in singling out Ubuntu.
Not to mention all the other distros that allow nonfree repositories for packages (Arch, openSUSE, Fedora, Slackware, and others).
Blindly following the FSF is not what I want to do with this project.
Attacking what words we can use to describe software (open-source) and wanting is to attach your own labels like 'Libre' that are literally solely based on the license (words on a screen that may not even be able to be enforced) is not a productive use of time.
What we are focused on here is quality software that doesn't spy on you.

I'm not attacking you or you project, just stating that not diferentiating open source with Free Libre misleads many users. .

Had to join to comment on this. It's an old philosophical argument.
Having been part of this movement from day one, the egos involved have been very vocal about freedoms based on individual preferences, and watching it all play out was an interesting drama.
Fun fact: Did you know that Borland's compilers allowed a person to compile executable software which could then be freely shared or sold, whereas Microsoft's general compiler did not? A person needed to spend an extra thousand dollars for that "freedom" and even then, there were limitations.
While I disagree with Stallman on certain things of which he has set his position and will stand by and defend it until his death, he holds a bar that others may wish to aspire to.
On the open source side of things, there were leanings towards the Microsoft model. The source being open (viewable) while modifications were not allowed without licensing. Thus the different license models.
Anyhow, in the tech industry, there are many "standards" by which we can more easily gauge our freedoms by. Clear, concise, and standard language and licensing helps towards that end.
I WILL NOT call Linux GNU/Linux because Torvalds only borrowed from GNU, but the core is the creation of his and so it is Linux, plain and simple.
But, to understand Stallman's position is to better understand the original intention of free software. And that hasn't changed.

Success. Took my old (~2010) laptop, couldn’t install from USB because it just wouldn’t boot from USB. Couldn’t use Ubuntu because needed to burn a CD and boot from CD. So I installed Debian and now I’m up and running.

#TakeBackOurTech: Open-Source Survival Toolkit Will Be Released Monday
Official Community | Telegram Channel |Telegram Chat Odysee | Hive | Minds
I am constantly finding that the articles and content become much bigger than originally planned. The Open Source Survival Toolkit article & video will be released Monday!
The goal is to do much more than just share the name and download link of a particular technology, but to explain the benefits and show you the best way to use it (at a high level to start with).
I'd like to hear from y'all in terms of what software you need on your new machines! Or maybe some software you've already found you'd like to drop knowledge on!
