⚡️ Kids Who Get Smartphones Earlier Become Adults with Worse Mental Health

A new report from Sapien Labs analyzed the results of a mental-health survey with ~28,000 18-24 year olds. They looked at the relationship between what age they first got smart phones and a Mental Health Quotient (MHQ) calculated through a mental health assessment (Global Mind Project).

The relationship between mental wellbeing at age 18-24 and age of first smartphone acquisition remained significant, even in those with no traumatic or adverse childhood experience.

This included the areas of 'social self' (how we compare to otheres), mental function, mood & outlook, adaptability, suicidal thoughts, aggressions, and detachment.

The data also shows that females were impacted far more severely than their male counterparts, with MHQ scores 20-25 points lower on average.

We all intuitively are aware of the negative health effects of tech on young people. Seeing it quantified is shocking.

Its also important to take a closer look at what exactly on the smart phone is contributing to these mental health issues. In my opinion, its not just phone calls & texts - its social media that's the major source of the problem. I know I've felt my mental health improve dramatically ever since I left those platforms.

Even as someone who promotes alternative privacy phones - I am in total support of waiting until high school to give children smart phones. And more importantly, we need to take a closer look at the content, apps and algorithms that are damaging younger people and educate on ways to have healthier relationships with tech & social media.

⚡️How Law Enforcement Spy On Protests

A new report released by The Intercept shows how law enforcements get a real-time feed to activism & protests.

In this specific case the U.S Marshals service received updates on abortion protests.

Internal emails show that the U.S. Marshals Service received regular alerts from Dataminr, a company that persistently monitors social media for corporate and government clients, about the precise time and location of both ongoing and planned abortion rights demonstrations.

The emails show that Dataminr flagged the social media posts of protest organizers, participants, and bystanders, and leveraged Dataminr’s privileged access to the so-called firehose of unrestricted Twitter data to monitor constitutionally protected speech.

It would be interesting to see the raw results of the FOIA request and to see how many health freedom protests were included in reports.

From this report, we see that law enforcement has tools to monitor platforms like Twitter & Telegram, that they monitors the names of prominent officials, and is aware of when and where events are occurring.

Its another reminder to keep your serious change-making in the private.

The Control Group - Independent Worldwide Long-Term Study of SARS-CoV-2 Vaccines

The SARS-CoV-2 jabs were rushed out under emergency use authorization, using novel technology without any long-term testing. The original control group for this experimental treatment was unblinded only a couple of months into the trial and its participants offered the jab, which the vast majority took. Therefore, there is no longer an official control group. Science demands that every experimental treatment must have a control group in order to properly evaluate its long-term success and efficacy.

Our belief is that without a vaccine-free control group to compare against, there is no true measure of the levels of safety and effectiveness proclaimed by governments and health organisations across the world.

Our intention is to collect large scale health data from both the SARS-CoV-2 jabbed and the vaccine-free in order to facilitate truly independent, comparative analysis, to show whether the vaccine-free do, or do not have better long and short-term health outcomes.

There appears to be over 300K participants in 175 countries. Participating in the study is free. In the privacy policy it states, that no names, specific addresses are collected.

It seems well organized and put together, my only wonder is if the raw anonymized data will be shared to the public so that more than one party can do an analysis.

⚡️Antenna Search - Resources on Tracking Nearby Cell Towers

Last week at the E&B Land Summit, presenters were discussing environmental factors when searching for a new property, such as nearby oil fields or big agriculture farms.

Lesser discussed is the proximity to EMF radiation!

I've been researching and doing some interviews with EMF experts, and one of the points that kept coming up is - how far away do I need to be from a cell tower?

The upper bound of a safe range is about half a mile, and of course further is better. It also depends on the number of tiers the tower has, the # of antennas, and whether they're facing towards your house.

The next question is - how can I get a sense of the cell towers near my house? I found Antenna Search to be super helpful in this case.

You can put in an address and immediately see the antenna/towers in a given location.

It tells you the exact location and height of the tower. It even shows ownership info, and representative contact info when available.

Did you know that Paypal discriminates against Palestinians? Why am I not surprised?

11 Members of US Congress have requested that PayPal end its ban on Palestinians. PayPal says the territories are "high risk" but gives services to Israeli settlers in the same areas.

“We have significant concerns that, because PayPal does provide services to Israeli citizens in illegal settlements across the West Bank, but does not provide services to Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza, PayPal’s current operating status may be infringing upon the rights of Palestinians,” the letter said.

“As one of the world’s most recognized payment platforms, PayPal has a responsibility to ensure its services and operations are provided in a non-discriminatory manner.”

The May 16th release of GrapheneOS introduced a new feature, Contact Scopes. This offers a way for users to only allow a subset of contacts to be shared with the app in question. Perfect for protecting your contact information from apps like Telegram, Signal, WhatsApp, and I'm sure countless others.

Contact Scopes
GrapheneOS provides Contact Scopes as an alternative to granting the Contacts permission. By default, it acts as if the contacts list is empty and users can grant different kinds of access to specific contacts or groups of contacts.

You may remember GrapheneOS was the first to release Storage Scopes, which helped trick apps into thinking it had all the storage permissions it needed to work properly.
