Google now offers "Warranty Helper" to check your warranty policy easily
Earlier, users had to manually enter the device’s serial number or IMEI. But now, instead of having to know it by looking physically on the device, finding the packaging, or diving into Settings, Google will automatically list the devices associated with your Google Account.
Once you confirm your email address with the Warranty Helper, you can easily select the specific Pixel device you want to check the warranty status for. You'll see details like the warranty start and expiration dates, along with the return policy.

Nothing Smartphone Ultra XDR is just renamed Google Ultra HDR
Nothing recently rolled out Ultra XDR to the Phone 2 and the feature was introduced with the Nothing Phone 2a launch event
However, the Nothing's Ultra XDR feature is NOT any new feature developed by Nothing & is basically Google's Ultra HDR which Google introduced with the Android 14 release and Nothing then just renamed for fake hype
Unlike Nothing, The Pro XDR advertised by OnePlus/Oppo for their smartphones is different as BBK uses their own HDR algorithm and tuning for their smartphones
Also, it existed BEFORE Google announced Ultra HDR

Nintendo Eyeing To Enter the Indian Market
Nintendo has never launched its consoles officially in India.
One of the reasons that Nintendo did not choose to enter the Indian market is likely due to high taxed imposed on video games and consoles.
Also, Nintendo is not a “fan of India’s BIS rules which they fear could reveal their factories.”
Now its been reported that Nintendo has been “eyeing India again.”
Recently, Nintendo employees visited key Indian markets like Mumbai .
However, NO deal has been finalised between Nintendo and any distributor in India.
Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled to release in 2025 now instead of 2024 previously

Samsung's Legendary JN1 Sensor
Samsung introduced the ISOCELL S5KJN1 senso in 2021 with a 50MP resolution having 0.64 μm pixel size while the entire sensor is 1/2.76” type.
The sensor is made for “every smartphone, from mid-range to flagship"
Samsung used it as its 'primary camera' on their mid-rangers Galaxy M series & Xiaomi used it in their budget devices like Redmi 10
It was then used as Ultrawide camera in smartphones like Nothing Phone 1 and Phone 2
Xiaomi used the same as Telephoto Camera in Flagship Mi 13 series
OEMs will now use the same sensor as the selfie camera on their smartphones
Love it or hate it, but JN1 is here to stay for a long time 😂

Google has just published the I/O 2024 schedule!
Though I think I've done an amazing job at documenting Android 15 this year, Google always seems to pull an announcement or two out of their hat that surprises me.
Looking forward to finding out what that is! I've heard some stuff about Wear OS 5 and future Android TV versions that I'm not super confident about reporting yet, so I've held off for now. I hope this information gets confirmed at I/O, though!

MS-DOS 4.0 is now open source!
In partnership with IBM and in the spirit of open innovation, Microsoft has now released the source code to MS-DOS 4.00 under the MIT license.
While their team was unable to find the full source code for MT-DOS, they did find MS DOS 4.00, which is now released, alongside the additional beta binaries, PDFs of the documentation, and disk images.

WhatsApp tells Delhi High Court it will shut down in India if forced to break encryption
The court was hearing petitions filed by WhatsApp and its parent company Meta challenging Rule 4(2) of the Information Technology Rules, 2021. Rule 4(2) says ‘significant’ social media intermediaries (those with more than five million registered users) must be able to identify the first originator of any information (text, photo, video, etc) on its platform when ordered to do so by a court or another competent authority.
WhatsApp said that complying with the rule would require storing vast numbers of messages for extended periods, which no other country mandates. It said the rule exceeded the scope of its parent law, the Information Technology Act, which does not mandate breaking encryption.
The government argued that there must be a mechanism in place to trace the originators of messages, citing the need for accountability. The court has adjourned the case to 14 August.

Android 15 Will Force Dark Mode On Every App
Source
With Android 10, Google introduced support for a system-wide dark mode toggle with the "Override Force-Dark" option which is available in Developer Settings
The feature works by analyzing “each view of your light-themed app and applies a dark theme automatically before it is drawn to the screen.”
However, apps “must opt-in to Force Dark,” indicating they can opt out of it as well.
Now in the January Android 14 QPR2 Beta 2 update, Google hid a new “make all apps dark” toggle under Settings > Accessibility > Color and Motion.
This toggle, which wasn’t visible by default then (and still isn’t as of the latest Android 15 Beta 1.2) is similar to the 'override force-dark' option.
But, the “make all apps dark” works in more apps than “override force-dark”, suggesting that the existing developer opt-out no longer works and that the underlying force-dark algorithm is different.
Google will introduce it with Android 15 release
