Qualcomm announced Snapdragon AR2 Gen 1 for AR glasses

It is the first purpose-built 4nm AR chip.
Developed using “multi-chip distributed processing architecture” so that AR processor & connectivity are on the 2 stems, the AR coprocessor in the bridge.
Compared to the XR2, the AR2 uses 50% less power.

Features:
•Concurrent cameras with an “Engine for Visual Analytics” tasked with object detection.
•Latency-sensitive perception data is processed directly on the glasses.
• Drive display output with a “Reprojection Engine” so that visual overlays remain anchored as you move.
•Iris authentication support, as the chip has its own CPU, memory, and hardware for camera/sensor aggregation, computer vision, security.
•Wi-Fi 7 support for under 2 ms latency

The AR coprocessor combines camera and sensor data.

Lenovo, LG, Niantic, Nreal, OPPO, Pico, QONOQ, Rokid, Sharp, TCL, Tencent, Vuzix, and Xiaomi will be adopting this chip in their AR glasses.

Audio chips come with Snapdragon Sound technology for an enhanced audio experience.

The new Snapdragon S3 Gen 2 and S5 Gen 2 Sound Platforms will be available commercially in phones in the second half of 2023

Qualcomm teases new Oryon CPU for Windows

Qualcomm announced a name for its Nuvia based custom Arm cores: Oryon.

Expect a balance of power and  fast, efficient performance to Windows computers as part of its connected computing plans.
Qualcomm also mentioned that 5G and AI will be crucial parts of the new CPU.

Oryon figures to be a part of multiple Snapdragon products, including mobile, automotive and the many other areas.
Oryon replaces Kryo, the current CPU Qualcomm has used since 2015. Kryo will still be a part of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 tho

Qualcomm bought Santa Clara firm Nuvia for $1.4 billion back in January 2021. Nuvia was working on custom Arm architectures

Qualcomm Oryon is on track to arrive in the second half of 2023 for OEM, so devices with it will ship in 2024
