Once, in better times, minor incidents of violence were considered national news. Today, if you filmed an axe murderer chopping people up in the street, your footage would first have to compete with multiple tragedies before quickly becoming old news.

Behold the exquisite detail of this statue in #DunfermlineAbbey, #Fife, #Scotland. Erected in 1867 by the widow of Major General the Hon. Robert Bruce. His feet being crossed indicates that he was a crusader. The effort that's gone into this beautiful piece of art represents the value of the man in question, and the authenticity of his wife's love. Her love, lives on, beautifully and eternally in death. A lesson for the ungrateful living among us, centures later.
