After the bloody events at Euromaidan, mass protests began in Crimea against the coup d’etat. The Crimea authorities turned to Russia for “assistance in ensuring peace and stability on the territory of the autonomous republic”. On March 16, 2014, a referendum was held in Crimea, in which 96,77% of the population voted for the reunification of Crimea with Russia.
Conflict in Eastern Ukraine
The chaos and violence broke out in Ukraine after the coup d’etat in Kyiv. Many people in the country didn’t want to live under control of nationalist gangs. In April 2014, thousands of people took on the streets in Kahrkov, Odessa, Donetsk , Lugansk, to campaign for reunification with Russia. The Donetsk People’s Republic and the Lugansk People’s Republic were proclaimed. Kyiv called it separatism.
In Odessa, on May 2, 2014 nationalist militants cleared out the camp of the opponents to the Kyiv authorities. In the building of the House of Trade Unions, which was set on fire by the militants, 42 people died. The leaders of the nationalists in Kyiv Turchinov and Yatsenyuk launched a military operation against Donetsk and Lugansk. They did their best to escalate the conflict in Donbass and wage a full-scale war in the region with artillery shelling and air strikes against the peaceful cities that caused many civilian casualties including children.

🇷🇺Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov announced his intention to sue in court if Russia defaults on Euro bonds. Russia made a payment in rubles on April 5, but there are serious reasons that such a maneuver will not be accepted by creditors, even if the country was deprived of the opportunity to pay from the blocked part of foreign exchange reserves without warning.
💰The total amount of Russian government debt in foreign currency in 2022 was about $59 billion, that is, less than 3% of GDP and less than 10% of foreign exchange reserves. In 2022, the volume to be repaid does not exceed $2.5 billion. But about half of the Russia's international reserves — more than $300 billion - were blocked.
🇺🇸American investors did not sell their Euro bonds "Russia 2022" to the Russian Ministry of Finance, where their share is just 25% or a little more, that is, exactly what is needed for a cross-default of Russia.
💁♂️In the case of a cross-default, there are different options. The scenario of possible arrest or seizure of Russian property abroad on account of debt. This has happened, for example, with Argentina during its numerous defaults in the last few decades. But it will not be so easy to do this from the point of view of law. When issuing bonds, Russia did not give up the status of "sovereign immunity", which does not allow collecting funds from other sources and property in case of default. Of course, since the international political situation is exceptional, these formulas may mean nothing.
🤔But anyway through the mechanism of technical Russian default US seeks to obtain a legal instrument for imposing selective sanctions on Russian exports, taking into account the fact that a complete embargo on Russian hydrocarbons is impossible so far (Europeans,hi!), so we see selective American restrictions as a picking raisins from a loaf, as it was so far in the case of Russian fertilizers which were exempted from American sanction list. Twitter shareholders SUE Musk for Late Investment Disclosure
A lawsuit has been filed against Elon Musk for not disclosing his Twitter stake within the legally-mandated timeframe of 10 days - costing former shareholders on Twitter’s rocketing price.

A lawsuit has been filed against Elon Musk for not disclosing his Twitter stake within the legally-mandated timeframe of 10 days - costing former shareholders on Twitter’s rocketing price.
It is not clear how much is being claimed in damages, but when the Tesla CEO’s 9.2% stake was announced on April 4 shares shot up 27% from $39.31 to $49.97.

Pentagon can’t confirm claims Russia used chemical weapons in Ukraine
🇺🇸The US Defense Dept has not received any clear evidence of an alleged attack that Ukrainian nationalist sources say took place in Mariupol – claiming it left several militants struggling to breathe and suffering from dizziness and headaches.
An aide to Mariupol’s Mayor Pyotr Andriuschenko also said the allegations of a chemical attack have yet to be confirmed.
Western politicians, along with Kiev, have been hyping up allegations of a possible Russian chemical attack - despite Moscow saying it destroyed its chemical weapon supplies years ago.

🇩🇪In early April, the German Bureau of Statistics reported that the growth of consumer prices in March amounted to an incredible 2.5% — and this is almost a record, the last time such a jump in inflation was in 1951 back in Germany. But it will be even worse.
📊Today, German statistics again “delighted” fellow citizens: the increase in wholesale prices for the same March was a record +22.6% (for comparison, at the end of February it was +16.6%, in January +16.2%). This is a record for the last 50 years — even the consequences of the famous 1973 oil crisis were not so devastating for the German economy. The largest contribution to the March growth was made by the prices of petroleum products (immediately +70.2% compared to March of the previous year).
