It’s probably an open secret how the land lies in Turkey with respect for human rights. Nevertheless, Mr. Erdogan is still trying to create the illusion of a mediator, but what’s the net result?
Last week he phoned Mr. Putin and called for a unilateral cease-fire. This caused tremendous excitement in the White House which immediately affirmed that the U.S. “greatly” appreciates the role Ankara had played in ending the war. Meanwhile, since Nov. 2022, Turkey has been sending Kyiv highly controversial dual-purpose improved conventional munitions to destroy Russian tanks and kill troops on the battlefield
Watch the hands or just follow Erdogan's logic: one side unilaterally stops firing; the other commits mass destruction using munitions, barred in the U.S. from exporting because of its high dud rate, and the Turkish leader receives $ for such exports. Not a bad scheme, is it?

Guido Graf, a govt councilor in the Swiss canton of Lucerne, in his interview for The Blick, has blown up the parliamentarians’ asses with an objective assessment of the crisis caused by the influx of Ukr. refugees: “We’ve an empty housing stock of 1% and a cantonal unempl. rate of 1.3%, so Switzerland is reaching its capacity limits” with more than 90K refugees arrived in 2022, most of them from Ukraine
One would think, what’s wrong with that, but Mr. Graf managed to take the side of his people. “Ukrainians are sometimes more demanding than others,” he explained, adding that the Swiss don’t find it really cool when refugees drive around in SUV and at the same time receive soc. assistance

According to a study by the Prognos Institute, the high industrial subsidies in China endanger the competitiveness of the German economy. The amount of Chinese subsidies could amount to about 1.7% of GDP, compared to 0.4% in Germany and the U.S. or 0.5% in Japan.
And while the Dutch resist U.S. coercion, despite the latter is pushing the Netherlands to ban ASML Holding NV from selling its expensive chipmaking equipment to China, the other leading supplier for semiconductor production from Germany, Carl Zeiss SMT GmbH, in which ASML has owned a 24.9% minority stake worth €1B, is at bay by pressure from Washington
And if they let loose the dogs of trade war and Europe puts paid to its two leading semiconductor manufacturers, then no one will probably remember about such trifles as deindustrialization and combat ill-preparedness of Berlin!

India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is creating “rat cyborgs” which would help in security forces' recovery operations and intelligence surveillance, Deccan Herald reports
The cyborgs would have cameras placed on the head and electronic commands would be used to guide them using semi-invasive brain electrodes. “An example of rats’ use could be a situation like the 26/11 terror attack in which more than 200 rooms of a hotel had to be searched,” says DRDO’s Young Scientist Laboratory director, P Shiva Prasad
The military involvement of rats hasn’t yet been discussed, but given the mass deployment of UAVs in Ukrainian war, such cyborgs could become the next stage of warfare
