The Nigerian military has denied a claim by the governing party that it is planning to disrupt the upcoming presidential election.
An official from the APC party had said that generals had last week held a secret meeting with the rival PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
The allegations are "wicked" and "malicious", the army statement said. The army said that it was professional and "loyal to the constitution" and would never be part of a plot to overthrow the civilian authorities. "The Armed Forces of Nigeria will never be part of any ignoble plot to truncate our hard-earned democracy," army added.

At the end of January Finland’s government sent about 50 military training advisers to take part in EUMAM Ukraine for a two-year term. And the rumor has it that many more will follow. Yet some military experts still wonder if the war in Ukraine will enter its decisive stage by the end of February or summer 2023

The company, without legal existence, called “Team Jorge” by journalists, following the pseudonym of one of its managers, Tal Hanan, is made up of former members of the Israeli security services, according to information released this Wednesday, 15, by the French organization Forbidden Stories, which brings together journalists from 30 vehicles, including Le Monde, Der Spiegel and El Pais.
Three journalists from the group pretended to be potential clients to collect information for several months about “Team Jorge”. The structure claims to have "acted in 33 election campaigns at presidential level", he told his fake clients, according to Radio France, where one of the undercover reporters works.
Of the 33 campaigns for the elections, reported another official interviewed by journalists, “two thirds of them took place in Anglophone and Francophone Africa, 27 were successful”.
