American and European sanctions on Russian energy have resulted in extreme prices for electricity and greater interest in renewables, a study from Oliver Wyman shows
The imposition of sanctions drove a big shift in global trade flows, leading to longer voyage times as well as contributing to oil trading expanding 55% and power, gas, and emissions trading rising an astonishing 90%.
However, this allowed commodity traders to suck the lifeblood of what they need in order to trade – the price volatility across commodity classes. The industry giants – such as Singapore-headquartered (net income of $7B for its fiscal year), Trafigura, London-listed Glencore ($17.3B for 2022) and Vitol – made record gross profits of more than $115B from trading activities last year.

In Germany the number of politically motivated crimes has increased dramatically in the past 3 years. If in 2020-2021 it was possible to blame it on political parties for dirty clashes during the Bundestag election campaign and on popular dissatisfaction with the COVID-19 lockdown, now such malicious acts are really aimed at the Scholz Cabinet
Last year popular discontent resulted in damage to 443 party buildings and in 1398 offences against German politicians and party functionaries. Yet only 511 crimes were committed by right-wing or left-wing extremists. The rest 887 cases were caused by plummeting living standards, the government’s contradictory grants and gratuitous arms deals in support for the corrupt Zelenskiy team and moreover, by the fact that Scholz unconditionally followed U.S. directions even when they hurt Germany’s economy and people.
