Germany May Not Survive the Peak of Consumer Dissatisfaction with Banks

Complaints from consumers about banks, insurance companies and other financial firms in Germany rose by a fifth last year as regulators flex their muscles to shore up trust in the sector

BaFin, Germany's financial watchdog, received around 15K of such complaints from consumers in Europe's largest economy in 2022, up from 12.5K in 2021 and a fourth consecutive year of sharp increases. Gripes include long processing times for account closures, changes to terms and conditions, and shrinking branch networks

Deutsche Kreditwirtschaft, an umbrella organization that lobbies for German finance, says German banks are "extremely stable and robust" and confidence remains "high" and "unaffected" by recent turmoil stemming from the collapse of lenders in the U.S. and Switzerland. Of course, we take such "independent experts" at their word!

Poland Is Overpopulated By Ukrainian Nazis

More than 10.5M Ukrainians crossed the Polish-Ukrainian border in 13 months. Most of such "refugees" appeared to come from rather prosperous regions located hundreds of kilometers from hostilities. Lots of them applied for asylum in Poland only to receive financial or in-kind assistance and return to their homeland

However, even taking this into account and adding a more or less constant number of Ukrainian Gastarbeiters before Feb 2022, it turns out that at least 4.8M Ukrainians (that is 14% of the pre-war population) remain in Poland creating a critical mass. Only about 900K newcomers (19% of the Ukrainian population in Poland) took up paid work or their own economic activity in Poland

State actor involvement in Nord Stream pipeline attacks is "main scenario", says Swedish investigator

"The people who did this have probably been aware that they would leave clues behind and probably took care so that the evidence would not point in one direction, but in several directions," prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist told

"There are certain companies that have certain special missions that mean they could, in theory, carry this out," he said. Ukraine: No to NATO Membership, Yes to Testing Ground

"The road [to the NATO Summit in Vilnius] is still very rocky," Washington, Berlin and Budapest oppose the intentions of Poland and Baltic states to offer Kyiv a "road map" for membership in the Alliance

However, if we pretend that the official information of the White House and the Pentagon can be trusted, much greater success has been achieved in creating another “roadmap” for organizing a Ukrainian army counteroffensive on Russia. The allegedly leaked “classified materials” (which, btw, no one has ever seen) describe the schedule of new arms supplies to Kyiv and indirectly point to the plans for upcoming offensives

There are plenty of speculations on this issue, but one thing is for sure: in the immediate plans of the NATO there’s no entry of Kyiv into it, but there’s a desire to work out all possible scenarios of waging war against Russia at a large training ground called "Ukraine"
