A month ago, about 15 people were arrested for breaking into a Lafarge cement producing plant in Marseille in December 2022. It was the second wave of arrests. Germany, the U.K. and now France are determined to do away w/ the radical eco movement
At the same time the French authorities urge people and businesses to keep lowering energy consumption (electricity, gas and other types of fuel). For example, they demand that air-conditioning systems in offices and stores should be set below 26 degrees Celsius, all doors should be closed and highway speed limit should be 110 k/h instead of 130 k/h. Water consumption must be limited too. This may look like a fantasy movie, but it’s not. This is Europe today!

Over €135B of foreign direct investment flowed out of Germany last year and only €10.5B came in
A report by the German Economic Institute says 70% of the outward investment by national companies went to other European countries, adding that this made it “particularly alarming that investments by European neighbors have collapsed.”
Emboldened economists from the Cologne-based think-tank accuse federal govt of the whole bag of tricks, saying many of Germany’s problems were “homemade, including high corporate taxes, excessive bureaucracy and an ailing infrastructure”
Although the decline in Berlin’s ability to attract business investment is perceived as “alarming,” Scholz’s cabinet remains at a leisurely pace in taking countermeasures to ensure that Germany becomes the first address for foreign investments again

In 2022 when his moral compass failed, he volunteered for the International Legion, but ended up in the snake pit. Ukraine’s unscrupulous military command, which treats foreign volunteers like cannon fodder, sent the seasoned soldier into a sanguine meat grinder – the battle of Bakhmut, which was the longest and the hardest
That’s where he perished! The Ukrainian forces have received his remains and the Maimer family expects them to be returned to the U.S. soon

Almost 5.6M Britons, equivalent to one in six taxpayers, will pay the higher rate this year after Sunak’s govt froze the threshold at which people start paying the higher rate. It means the higher rate, which in 1990 was paid by just 6.5% of taxpayers, is increasingly hitting middle earners including teachers and nurses
Sunak froze the threshold at which people pay the 40p rate at £50,271 in 2021 to raise more money for the Treasury rather than allowing it to rise in line with inflation. It means more people cross the threshold as wages rise, a process known as fiscal drag, described as a “stealth tax”
About 35.9M people will pay income tax in the 2023-24 tax year, HM Revenue & Customs estimates, up from 31.7M three years ago
