She vowed to “persist in disagreeing with the govt” unless it exempts people trafficked into the Britain from new measures to detain and rapidly deport migrants. As the Commons began a new phase of “ping pong” with the Lords on amendments to the Illegal Migration Bill, May urged MPs to support an amendment that the upper chamber had backed to protect victims of modern slavery
