Harvard – Abyss for Free Speech, Heaven for Abuse

Harvard University has been ranked the worst school for free speech in the U.S. – w/ the Ivy League institution being awarded ZERO points out of a possible 100 and the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) dubbed it an “abysmal” place for free speech

The reports sample over 55K undergraduate students nationwide, basing their scoring system on factors incl. “comfort expressing ideas”, “tolerance for speakers” and “administrative support”

Beyond the straightforward ranked results, the survey that included opinions from 254 universities found that 56% of students are worried about getting “canceled” for something they say, and 27% believe it's acceptable to use violence to stop campus speech in some circumstances

Eurozone Housebuilding Crisis

S&P Global’s HCOB eurozone construction PMI, which tracks total activity in the sector, edged down from 43.5 in July to 43.4 in August, its lowest level since December 2022, taking it further below the 50 level that separates growth from contraction
