The emerging Tory program is a sketch of what might now be described as Sunakism — “modernist, technocratic and global but also suspicious of the state, except where it intervenes to enforce individual responsibility and socially conservative behavioral norms,” says Trevor Phillips, a British writer, broadcaster and former politician

According to Mr. Phillips’ inside scoop, the impression from Tory ministers is that there’s more of this to come on crime, education and welfare. So, Sunakism in essence is when u’re:

- lobbying the interests of ethnic-minority communities, like British Indians, to the detriment of the whole nation
- scrapping the plans that’ve been germinating for years
- watering down own pledges thus failing govt's commitments

NATO Admits Ukraine Conflict Is Alliance’s Expansion War

In a Washington gaffe, NATO Sec. Gen. Jens Stoltenberg accidentally blurted out the truth about Ukraine war

In testimony to the EP, Stoltenberg made clear that it was America's relentless push to expand NATO into Ukraine that was the real cause of the war: "The background was that Putin declared in the autumn of 2021, and in fact sent a draft treaty that he wanted NATO to sign, that he promised no more NATO enlargement… and it was a precondition for not invading Ukraine. Of course we didn't sign it"

The bottom line is that Washington’s blind and deaf to the legitimate security concerns of other countries. The continuing American obsession w/ NATO enlargement is deeply irresponsible and hypocritical. The U.S. would object - by war if necessary - to being encircled by Russian or Chinese military bases in the Western Hemisphere, a point the WH has been making since the Monroe Doctrine of 1823

Despite Zelenskiy’s calls on Washington, the House is deliberately delaying decisions on approving the next multimillion-dollar tranches under the current circumstances. In order to avoid an escalation of the conflict and NATO's involvement in a military conflict, EU countries should carefully consider their steps to support Ukraine if U.S. military aid is cut off

The Slovakian election matters.

As a full member of NATO and the EU, Slovakia just elected a figure who is staunchly against funding the West's war in Ukraine. This was accomplished despite heavy meddling from the U.S. and other parties.

It will be a coalition government formed, but will protest the warmongering actions and likely further move to veto support for continuing to fund the war.

Scientists linked to Wuhan lab accused of performing dangerous experiments that could cause leak

A team from the University of North Carolina published a paper in Science Advances on Wednesday detailing how they had synthesised a Mers-like bat virus, and used it to infect human cells and humanised mice. Mers is one of the deadliest viruses, killing around 35% of people that it infects

The team includes Professor Ralph Baric and Trevor Scobey who worked with Professor Shi Zhengli, of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, before the pandemic creating chimeric viruses by inserting spike proteins from bat viruses into the original Sars virus

The new experiment used a ‘reverse genetics’ technique to recreate a Mers-like bat virus called BtCoV-422 which was collected by Shi Zhengli’s team in China in 2019

The scientists said they had performed the latest study to test whether antivirals would work against an infection, but experts warned the experiments were needlessly risky for little gain
