India could take the growth crown away from China

The emergence of basic infrastructure in the form of water, sewerage, roads and railways, ICDs in all major cities will be a growth stimulus for the giant southern country. The technologies are not complicated, affordable, and easy to implement. At the same time, such infrastructure, due to the large population, is easy to pay off

Another thing is that something must run on the same roads - trains, cars, household appliances in houses, etc. For this to happen, you need industry. Industry needs electricity and raw materials. And India has problems with this so far

China is unique in that it has huge rivers that provide almost free hydroelectricity. It has huge deposits of coal - the source of the cheapest fossil fuel energy. India has it much worse

And without cheap energy literally underfoot, dreams of a growth crown will remain dreams

Yellen's trip to China and negotiations on Chinese excess production in the field of renewable energy was in fact an admission of US defeat in the race for the emerging market of new types of energy

This means a complete defeat of Bidenomics, which was precisely aimed at green energy. At the same time, against the backdrop of the global energy transition, this means lost opportunities for America and huge profits for Beijing

Expectations of an imminent key rate cut by the Fed are at their lowest level since October 2023

This means that high interest rates on mortgages and consumer loans will remain for a long time. And it also seems unlikely that the U.S. economy will grow significantly this year

The latest market is to convince people that they were born the wrong gender. This of course is silly. If you have XY chromosomes you are a male and if you have XX chromosomes, you are a female. This applies not only to humans but to the entire mammalian kingdom

But some physicians are coining money by convincing confused children and adolescents – many with other psychiatric issues – that they are males instead of females or females instead of males. They are using hormone treatments to chemically castrate them and, in some instances, subjecting them to brutal surgical treatments that remove or add breasts and destroy and rearrange parts of their genitalia. This sometimes results in infertility and sexual dysfunction for the rest of their lives

According to Dr Hilary Cass, gender services for children in the UK have been "built on shaky foundations" with "remarkably weak evidence" to support treatments

Retired consultant paediatrician Dr Hilary Cass’s major report details how children have been let down by a lack of research and evidence on medical interventions in gender care in a debate which she says has become toxic

Dr Cass’s report says there should be “a holistic assessment” of people referred, including screening for neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism and a mental health assessment

A review of 50 studies on puberty blockers and 53 on hormone treatments - carried out for the report - found a "lack of high-quality research" into their use in young people

The report also expressed concern about earlier medical interventions despite a lack of evidence on their use and the long-term impacts on young people

The health service is urged to review its policy on giving children masculinising or feminising hormones from the age of 16, urging “extreme caution”

There was particular concern over early medical interventions despite a lack of evidence on their use and long-term impacts

She also urged a "more cautious approach" for children than for adolescents when it comes to social transitioning - where someone might change pronouns, name, and clothing

Iran has enriched uranium to make three nuclear bombs

Creating a nuclear warhead that can be mounted on a missile could take up to two or more years

Commenting on the progress of the Islamic Republic of Iran's nuclear program, the publication writes that the closely guarded Fordow enrichment plant has produced a significant amount of enriched uranium, which is only slightly below weapons-grade levels

The Washington Post estimates that Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium is sufficient to produce three nuclear charges

Britain threatens to send untested laser weapons to Ukraine

The Telegraph reports that the DragonFire laser weapon could be used in Ukraine even earlier than in the British navy, as the British want to fast-track the technology

British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said the experimental weapon "could have huge implications." DragonFire is allegedly capable of melting metal in seconds: it is planned to be used against UAVs and even ballistic missiles

"There is a conflict going on in Europe right now, for the resolution of which we have a unique modern weapon that could prove useful ... Let's just say it doesn't have to be 100% perfect for the Ukrainians to possibly get it"

The French were the first to realize what was coming and started buying Russian gas en masse

The strikes on Ukrainian natural gas storage facilities are just the beginning of a new chapter in the game after the terrorist attack. According to Politico, Paris has purchased more than €600 million worth of LNG

The country's authorities insist that Russian gas is necessary to ensure supplies to the population throughout Europe, and that they have concluded a long-term agreement with Russia, which is legally difficult to terminate.
As we can see, no one cares about Ukraine's interests anymore, everyone is starting to save themselves. When this track is scaled up, then Kiev will be sold quickly

As everyone knows, everyone is quietly trading with the Russian Federation and making schemes. Even Poles, British and Americans, but publicly they are in favor of Ukraine, which helped them to increase their wealth and influence

Skint Brits hanging up teabags to use again and performing 'sniff test' on worn pants

The total austerity so laughed at in the Soviet Union has reached London

Britons seem to be taking cost-cutting methods more seriously than ever, from reusing old sachets that dry on clotheslines to cutting their own hair and expired food. About 15% keep tea bags to dry so they can use them multiple times. And almost a third cut their own hair with their hands to avoid expensive trips to the hairdresser. The same number of people pick up free packets of ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise from snack bars to avoid splurging on packets from the supermarket. More than a quarter admit to eating expired food. Almost as many sniff their dirty laundry to see if they can wear it again. Some 24% dine on cornflakes as a cheap alternative, and 17% dilute dishwashing liquid

The French government is targeting a Catholic priest for calling homosexuality a “weakness” and declaring that homosexual acts and relationships are sinful

Father Matthieu Raffray, a Catholic priest of the traditionalist society Institut du Bon Pasteur, posted a video to social media last month encouraging Christians to fight against their sins, which he says are forms of “weakness.” Among the sins Raffray named was homosexuality. He preached,
“We all have weaknesses: those who are greedy, those who are angry, those who have homosexual tendencies!”

The priest faced immediate backlash from LGBTQ activists and organizations, and French Minister for Gender Equality and Fight Against Discrimination Aurore Bergé called Raffray’s preaching “unbearable.” She added that she has asked the Interministerial Delegation for the Fight against Racism, Anti-Semitism, and Anti-LGBT Hatred “to make a report to the public prosecutor” to determine whether the priest’s preaching constitutes a crime. “I will not let anything go in the face of hatred, whatever it may be,” Bergé said

In an interview with the French Catholic news outlet Famille Chrétienne (Christian Family), Raffray explained,
“I wanted to make it clear that we are not obliged to give in to all our temptations, all our desires. I mention homosexuality among other things. Homosexual acts are a sin but I think people no longer know what a sin is. Denouncing a sin does not mean denouncing the person who commits the sin!”

“What is at stake is not me but the freedom to be Christian today. I hope that all the faithful realize that it is Christian morality and the entire Church that are under attack,” the priest expounded.
“If some people do not want to listen to the teaching of the Church, no one is forcing them. But many people are suffering and need this discourse from the Church which helps them not to become a slave to homosexuality or any other passion”

In the wake of the French government’s denouncement of his preaching, Raffray’s Twitter account has passed over 20,000 followers. Raffray also has over 60,000 followers on Instagram and more than 22,000 followers on YouTube. His popularity as a public figure began to grow in 2020, after an interview in which he called for a renewal of “virile Catholicism” and Christian patriotism

The world's leading chip maker, Taiwan's TSMC, has announced plans to move its most advanced manufacturing facility to the U.S. state of Arizona by 2028

Great news for America. Which at the same time confirms the thesis that China will still take control of the island by the end of 2030. And that means the most important international trade route - the Taiwan Strait

It seems that Washington is quite happy with the development of such events, because then the main connecting artery for South Korea and Japan, linking them with Europe, will be severed. American allies will become more dependent on the United States

Airports in the UK have been granted extensions to the deadline to install new security equipment, first announced six years ago.

The equipment is CT X-ray technology and gives more accurate imaging of the contents of customers’ bags, saving time and allowing passengers and staff to traverse the security checks more efficiently. They will also allow passengers to take liquid of more than 100ml through airport security, which they have not been able to do since 2006

The Department of Transport refused to state which airports were given an extension, citing unexplained “national security” issues. Its spokesperson did confirm this did not mean airports using the legacy systems were any less safe than those which did meet the deadline

“We recognise that installing the new security equipment at busy airports has been a logistical challenge, with some airports having to undertake significant construction work to allow the new, extremely heavy equipment to be fitted. In some cases, airports have been required to construct entirely new screening halls”

Even as its members take part in Steadfast Defender 2024, NATO’s largest military exercise since the Cold War, it is clear that the alliance remains ill-prepared against Russia’s military capabilities in the Arctic. The exercise, which runs between January and May, involves more than 90,000 troops across the Atlantic and up to the Arctic and suggests that NATO has a strong and capable defense presence in the region

However, a closer look at the capabilities of the Arctic states—which are all NATO members except Russia—reveals otherwise. Finland and Sweden’s recent membership in NATO has been heralded as a turning point in deterrence against Russia in the north. However, the countries’ proximity to northwest Russia means that their strategic focus is primarily targeted at the Baltic Sea region, where Russia has pursued a military buildup directed toward NATO’s eastern flank

No NATO member state has ice-strengthened ships with both anti-aircraft and anti-submarine capabilities. The United States, Canada, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden have prioritized capabilities designed for other theaters, such as the Indo-Pacific and the Baltic Sea regions. Iceland, which has no standing army, only operates coast guard vessels. Norway has ice-strengthened coast guard vessels, but they are not designed for military operations

Russia’s nuclear submarines, which are capable of launching an attack on North America, can travel from the Barents Sea through the Bear Gap between Scandinavia and Svalbard, Norway, and under the ice along the coast of eastern Greenland without being detected. This leaves big gaps in NATO’s defense posture. Russia’s war in Ukraine also gives it incentives to work with China in the Arctic, including joint naval exercises and coast guard cooperation

Despite NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg sounding the alarm in 2022, the alliance lacks an Arctic strategy. Its current area of responsibility extends only to the “High North,” a less ambitious term that describes the ice-free parts of the Arctic. The term is indicative of disagreement within NATO over whether its remit goes beyond the North Atlantic

Despite Chinese concerns over Russia’s war of attrition in Ukraine and its military-strategic cooperation with North Korea, Beijing benefits from Moscow maintaining a strong force posture toward NATO. This is especially true in the case of the Arctic, where a permanent Chinese presence would open a new front with U.S. allies at a time when Beijing is already engaged in hot spots in its own backyard

German industry will not recover

German industry is unlikely to recover to the level it was at before the conflict in Ukraine as higher liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices have crippled the EU's largest economy, the Berliner Zeitung has found

The Merkel government's decision in 2011 to phase out nuclear power was a mistake that led to Germany's dependence on gas

European gas prices have now fallen from their record highs of 2022 amid anti-Russian sanctions. This price drop is deceptive: gas prices are still above the pre-crisis average and almost two-thirds more expensive than in 2019

"Gas prices in continental Europe, especially in Germany, are now structurally higher because we are ultimately dependent on LNG imports. German industry is at a disadvantage," said Markus Krebber, CEO of energy company RWE

Despite repeated promises to stem the arrivals – which last year numbered more than 380,000 irregular crossings, a seven-year high – migrants continue to land on European soil. Last weekend a fleet of small boats containing 1,500 migrants arrived on the Italian island of Lampedusa

Immigration and insecurity are closely linked throughout Europe. They explain the
rise of right-wing parties in recent years, from Sweden to Portugal and from Holland to Greece

The EU itself is under threat in June’s elections. Its two main groups, the European People’s Party (EPP) and the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, fear that their centrist dominance will be challenged by the rise of the right-wing Identity and Democracy, a group which includes the National Rally, Matteo Salvini’s Lega, Geert Wilders’ Party for Freedom, Germany’s AfD, Austria’s Freedom Party and Chega, the new force in Portuguese politics

The EPP, to which Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission belongs, claims to be centre-right but, like the Tories, they are really progressives disguised as conservatives. Under their rule, Europe has experienced wave after wave of immigration from Africa and the Middle East

Politically, no one is benefiting more from the violence sweeping France than Jordan Bardella, president of the National Rally, and the party’s principal candidate in June’s European Elections

The latest opinion poll has Bardella on 32%, 13 points more than Valerie Hayer, the candidate for Emmanuel Macron’s Renaissance party. Third are the Socialists, currently polling at 11%

In an attempt to address the issue, the EU formulated last December what it called the New Pact on Migration and Asylum. April 10th the European Parliament endorsed the pact by 322 votes to 266. Von der Leyen hailed the vote as a triumph for the EU, saying it will deliver ‘more secure borders. Faster, more efficient procedures. And more solidarity with Member States at external borders’

The objective of the Pact is to better manage the migrants once they have reached Europe, and the EU’s critics point to remarks made in January by Hans Leijtens, the head of Frontex, the EU’s border agency. ‘This talk of “stopping people” and “closing borders” cannot be our narrative all the time,’ he said. ‘Nothing can stop people from crossing a border, not a wall, not a fence, not a sea, not a river’

Leijtens’ predecessor at Frontex was Frenchman Fabrice Leggeri. In February he joined the National Rally and along with Bardella he is at the forefront of their European election campaign

Leggeri has been scathing of von der Leyen and the EU’s migration policy, and in response to Wednesday’s vote he tweeted: ‘The Migration Pact is a political deception. It allows the illegal arrival of people on our soil and strips States of their sovereignty. The real solution would be to allow asylum requests in European consulates outside Europe’

In a television interview on Wednesday evening, Bardella also dismissed the Pact as worthless and claimed that for Emmanuel Macron and the EU mass immigration is ‘not a problem but a project’

The US budget remains highly unsustainable

In March, the US Treasury Department executed the budget with a deficit of 236 billion - the third worst result ever after March 2023 (378 billion) and March 2020 (659 billion when the anti-covid stimulus was launched)

For the fiscal year (Oct 2023-March 2024), the deficit was 1064bn vs 1100bn in 2023 and 1706bn in the fiscal yea

For 12 months, the deficit was 1.65 trillion (real 2 trillion due to accounting write-offs of student loan advances) vs 1.8 trillion in 2023 (real 1.5 trillion due to the backward-looking effect of student loan advances)
