📑🖊 OPINION | US Human Rights Report on Venezuela Doesn’t Pass the Mirror Test

Solidarity activist Roger Harris questions human rights criticisms against Venezuela as an element of the US' "hybrid war" against the country.

While the State Department condemns Caracas, the US has the world’s largest prison population and over 122,000 people in solitary confinement daily. At the same time, UN experts estimate US sanctions have caused more than 100,000 excess deaths in Venezuela, a toll omitted by major human rights NGOs.

🎥 VIDEO | “They [the US] are looking for oil. It’s not drug trafficking. It’s the oil,” President Nicolás Maduro told Rafael Correa during an interview on Tuesday.

Maduro recalled that Venezuela has the world's largest proven oil reserves, estimated at 303 billion barrels, as well as the fourth-largest gas reserves, and potentially the world's largest gold reserves. He stated that these vast resources were the primary reason for the Trump administration’s ramped-up threats of regime change against Venezuela.
