TWO VENEZUELAN SOLDIERS KILLED IN OPERATION ALONG BORDER WITH COLOMBIA
Two members of the National Bolivarian Armed Forces were killed Sunday in a confrontation with irregular armed groups in the southwestern Venezuelan state of Apure.
A communique from Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López reported that Venezuelan authorities captured 32 men and killed an individual known by the alias “El Nando,” described as being one of the leaders of the Colombian group. Six camps were destroyed and a multitude of weapons, ammunition, explosives, military supplies, vehicles and drugs were also seized, according to the statement, which additionally mentioned an unspecified number of injured servicemen currently being treated.

The United Nations Human Rights Council approved a resolution on Tuesday urging all States to stop adopting unilateral sanctions as “tools of political and economic pressure.”
The text was approved with 30 votes in favor, 15 against, and two abstentions during the Human Rights Council 46th session in Geneva. Among the nations that supported the document were China, Russia, and Cuba, Venezuelan allies also subjected to US sanctions. European countries and Brazil were among those who opposed the resolution, while Armenia and Mexico were the only ones to abstain.

Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA has slashed production at several projects in the wake of a pipeline explosion.
On March 20, a tract of the 36-inch natural gas pipeline that supplies the Pigap II reinjection plant in El Tejero, Monagas state, exploded and went up in flames, forcing the facilities to be shut down while nearby areas were evacuated. There were no reported injuries.
