With works from guest contributors as well, the exhibit features 30 artists from eight different countries. Utopix describes the initiative as part of its “struggle to build an alternative, counter-hegemonic historical narrative as a key ingredient to build graphic communication at the service of popular struggles.”

THE VENEZUELANALYSIS PODCAST EPISODE 04: ANTI-IMPERIALIST MEDIA STRIKES BACK

Today more than ever, it is critical to support anti-imperialist media.

With recent victories by the left in Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Honduras, US Imperialism is nervous. The response by the US Department of State to these recent elections in Latin America, discrediting the first two and only reluctantly embracing the latter, is proof that neo-colonial domination over the region remains very much at the center of US foreign policy.

On today’s program, we’re going to take a look at what goes into producing anti-imperialist media that is capable of striking back against the Empire.

VENEZUELA ROLLS OUT COVID-19 VACCINE BOOSTERS AS OMICRON ARRIVES

According to Maduro, 91% of the population has been vaccinated and cases are down to five in every 100,000 people. The president went on to explain that this reported success was due to having “sown consciousness” in the population and not having relied on “restrictive measures or curfews.” He also downplayed rumors that more relaxed quarantine measures during December were to be reversed in the New Year.

Health authorities’ Covid-19 figures are, however, considered to underestimate the real situation given a lack of testing, amongst other factors. NGOs and international agencies have likewise claimed that vaccination totals are lower than officially reported.

VENEZUELA: GUAIDÓ WEAKENED AFTER COLOMBIA TAKES OVER TROUBLED AGROCHEMICAL COMPANY

Colombia’s Corporation Superintendency retained control over Venezuelan state-owned Monómeros Colombo-Venezolanos, S.A. after a series of mismanagement scandals by self-proclaimed “Interim President” Juan Guaidó and his allies.

The troubled Colombia-based agrochemical producer is considered Venezuela’s second most important foreign-held asset and was handed over to the hardline Venezuelan opposition following the self-proclamation of Guaidó as “interim president” in 2019. Since coming under control of the opposition, Monómeros has been plagued by scandals and corruption allegations, with different factions clashing over the running of the company.

VENEZUELAN GOV'T DEMANDS ALEX SAAB RELEASE, RETURN OF STOLEN ASSETS TO RESUME MEXICO TALKS

Venezuelan National Assembly (AN) President Jorge Rodríguez reiterated that the dialogue process in Mexico will restart once government envoy Alex Saab is released by Washington and the US-backed opposition returns seized foreign assets.

"Enough hypocrisy. If you want dialogue, release Alex Saab. If you want dialogue, return our assets abroad and our gold [withheld by the Bank of England] which you stole,” Rodríguez stated on Wednesday during an AN session to inaugurate the 2022 legislative period.

EDUCATING FOR THE FUTURE: HOW THE CHE GUEVARA COMMUNE CONFRONTS THE CRISIS (PART III)

The Che Guevara Commune lies on the fertile hillsides that rise up from the shores of Lake Maracaibo in western Venezuela. Historically this has been a cocoa-growing region but in more recent years coffee, sugar cane, and pineapple have also become important cash crops.

Part I of this three-part series looked at the Che Guevara Commune’s creative responses to US sanctions while Part II addressed the democratic organization of labor at the commune’s two main production centers. In this third and final part, we look at the commune’s efforts to provide social assistance to the community at a time when the sanctions are interfering with educational and health services in the country.

VENEZUELA: GUAIDÓ WEAKENED AFTER COLOMBIA TAKES OVER TROUBLED AGROCHEMICAL COMPANY

On September 3, 2021, Colombia’s Corporation Superintendency issued a resolution to assume control of Monómeros. Colombian law allows the corporate watchdog to employ such a process when an enterprise is in a critical “judicial, accounting, economic or administrative” situation.

The Venezuelan opposition-appointed board appealed the Colombian regulator’s decision and vowed to reach agreements directly with creditors.

The watchdog rejected that appeal and on December 30, 2021 ratified its decision to assume control over the corporation, arguing that conditions inside the company had not sufficiently improved and was still at the risk of insolvency. According to Colombian sources, the firm’s debt to suppliers stood at more than US $30 million in mid 2021.

VENEZUELAN GOV'T DEMANDS ALEX SAAB RELEASE, RETURN OF STOLEN ASSETS TO RESUME MEXICO TALKS

The former vice president likewise linked the government-opposition dialogue's future with Alex Saab’s release. “Do not propose dialogue to later attack it as the United States Department of Justice did by kidnapping Saab, a Venezuelan diplomat and member of our delegation in Mexico," reaffirmed Rodríguez, who led the government representatives in the talks.

Norway-brokered negotiations in Mexico City between the Maduro administration and the US-backed opposition came to a halt last year following Colombo-Venezuelan businessman Alex Saab’s extradition to the United States. The talks were due to enter their fourth round on October 17, a day after the extradition to Florida happened.
