Need feedback on compositing assignment!
Hey all!
For my compositing class we need to comp some shots and i chose this shot:
https://reddit.com/link/1rathzl/video/8exq7nfg5vkg1/player
And now this is what I currently have, made in Fusion and NukeNC:
https://reddit.com/link/1rathzl/video/kdqd356k5vkg1/player
And im wondering what I can add/change/improve to make look and feel better?
These are the things I already know that I have to add/change:
\- Defocus
\- Grade the attacking jet
Thanks!

rough estimate for VFX?
Hi! I'm an emerging (unproduced) independent producer and I'm trying to get an approximate budget for a project I'm working on.
I have a feature (movie) screenplay that needs approximately 50 minutes of something small-ish (say, an animated bird) that will interact with my actors. The bird look a little more real-life than something from Cinderella, but it's okay if it's not totally realistic.
what kind of details would be needed to get an estimate?
Does anyone here work for a company that could give me an estimate? I just need something rough. I've read anywhere from $1000/ minute to $100K/ minute and up.
Thanks in advance.

Will I be able to make the switch to Nuke NC?
Disclaimer: I'm not advocating for piracy, I'm trying to avoid it by doing things in a legit way. What I have done isn't right, however I'm trying to correct what I have.
I'm in a sticky situation, as I'd installed a version of Nuke after sailing the seven seas, however, I found how seriously The Foundry takes this sort of stuff, so I deleted it. I've learnt that Nuke NC, and that it's free, so I want to use it instead of using a cracked version of Nuke, and risk being fined. Incase it matters, I'm an individual in the UK, and I'm not a part of any sort of studio. What would be the best way to go about this?

What do you wish the previous department would do so your work is better/easier/faster?
Over the years I’ve had the opportunity of working in a variety of departments, with only lighting and comp left at a production level. Every department always laments something the previous department pushed through because they were pressed for time, manpower or it was compounded from the client.
What are some things you wished the upstream department from yours would do, that would help even just a tiny bit?
For me, I just wish that people wouldn’t stand in front of the witness cams while they are rolling…

Canadian Mid-Level VFX Compositor. Unemployed for 2 Years in Canada. Realistic outlook for 2026 or time to pivot?
I’m fully aware the industry isn’t going back to the pre-COVID boom days, so I’m not looking for hopium. I’m looking for reality.
A few quick questions for anyone who’s currently working.
Are there any decent-sized feature, episodic projects actually lining up for Canadian studios (or remote work) in the next 12 months?
