🚀 MTV viewers will choose the best performance in the metaverse

The MTV channel has introduced a new nomination for the MTV Video Music Awards — "Best Performance in the Metaverse".

The organizers decided to add it after they noticed that artists are increasingly holding concerts in virtual worlds.

The list of nominees for 2022 includes, for example, Ariana Grande (Fortnite performance), Twenty One Pilots (Roblox performance), Blackpink (PUBG Mobile performance) and BTS (Minecraft performance).

The MTV Video Music Awards 2022 will take place on August 28 in the US. This is one of the most prestigious awards, where the winner is chosen by the audience and listeners, and not by journalists or the jury.

🚀 PayPal adds cryptocurrency services to its mobile app

PayPal announced on its official Twitter account the full integration of cryptocurrencies into its mobile application.

Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), and Litecoin (LTC) are now available for PayPal mobile app users to buy, sell, hold, and transfer.

Previously, digital assets could not be withdrawn to external wallets. Since June of this year, this opportunity has appeared for a limited number of users, and now transactions with cryptocurrency in the application can be performed without restrictions.

The minimum amount of a cryptocurrency purchase transaction is $1. To use cryptocurrency as a payment method for purchases, you will have to complete the W-9 tax form in the application.

⚡️ Australian petrol station brand On The Run starts accepting crypto payments

A major Australian petrol station brand called On The Run (OTR) has launched crypto payment support across all 175 of its petrol stations. Now its visitors will be able to pay for fuel and snacks with cryptocurrency.

The project was able to deploy and test in just 8 weeks with the support of the Crypto.com exchange and local payment service provider DataMesh.

OTR’s parent company plans to install specialized terminals in 250 more retail outlets soon, including Subway Cafe and Krispy Creme.

“Now any owner of a store or cafe, or the head of a network of a thousand stores, can easily connect to cryptocurrency payments.”

⚡️ Telecommunications giant LG moves deeper into NFT space

The well-known South Korean telecommunications company LGU+ plans to release a new batch of NFTs in September. The main star of the new tokens will be the octopus-like animated character Moono.

LG's first NFT collection, released on the OpenSea platform back in May, sold out in just 2 seconds. It included 200 tokens with Moono characters enjoying different days of the week.

The second collection will include 1000 NFTs with animated Moono characters. Buyers of five tokens will be able to claim tickets to the Legoland theme park, and anyone who completes the set will receive a Moono toy.

The company plans to continue to actively develop in the field of cryptocurrency and blockchain. There are rumors that LG also plans to launch its own token.

⚡️Formula 1 files NFT trademark application

It looks like Formula 1 is planning to introduce digital collectibles, NFTs, and support for cryptocurrency payments.

On August 23, two new trademark filings were filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office. The filings included a long list of services and products that the company would offer during next year's race.

Clear references to NFTs and cryptocurrency-related services have been seen in this list. NFTs will represent the ownership of a variety of real-life items, such as automotive equipment, decorative items, clothes, bags, wallets, and even "perfumes".

It also notes “downloadable computer software for managing cryptocurrency transactions using blockchain technology.” This may indicate that the organizers of the race are preparing to support cryptocurrency payments.
⚡️ Binance Converts Its Users' Assets to Its Own BUSD Stablecoin

Binance is converting its users' assets in three stablecoins — USDC, USDP, and TUSD — into its native stablecoin, BUSD. The conversion will take place on September 29th.

🚀 FIFA launches football-themed NFT platform

On the eve of the World Cup, FIFA announced the launch of its own football-themed NFT platform.

“Just like sports memorabilia and stickers, this is an affordable way for fans around the world to connect with their favorite players, moments, and more on new platforms,” said FIFA Commercial Director Romi Guy.

The platform is scheduled to launch at the end of September this year, it will be called FIFA+ Collect and will run on the Algorand blockchain. Here, fans will be able to buy "low-cost and inclusive" NFTs with a variety of football moments.

The FIFA+ Collect will be available through the web app and the FIFA+ mobile app, which already streams football matches, news, and events.

⚡️ Anthony Hopkins launches NFT collection to celebrate his career

Anthony Hopkins is partnering with Orange Comet (an art entertainment company specializing in the production and promotion of NFTs) to launch his first NFT collection.

The Eternal Collection will include over 1,000 NFTs featuring the actor's most famous looks such as Hannibal Lecter from The Silence of the Lambs and Odin from Marvel's Thor.

The collection will be launched in mid-September on OpenSea. Those who participate on the first day of the auction will be able to meet Hopkins for a welcoming ceremony and lunch, and will also receive an autographed book by the actor.

In total, the auction of the first batch of NFT will last 3 days. On the third day, 1,000 unique NFTs will be auctioned off and 39 autographed art books by Hopkins will be randomly distributed to buyers.

Each of the selected companies will take on a different role in prototyping. Among them is Amazon, which will be responsible for the development of e-commerce payments under the project.

⚡️ Puma launches NFT sneakers in its own metaverse

The well-known brand of sports shoes Puma announced the launch of its own metaverse with virtual sneakers.

The collection and at the same time the metaverse was named Black Station, after the first Puma boutique opened 20 years ago.

The collection will include exclusive NFTs with limited edition physical sneakers. These include Nitro NFRNO and Nitro Fastroid, linked to Puma's recent Nitropass NFT release.

Nitropass NFT owners will receive two NFTs, one tied to real sneakers and the other to virtual ones. They will be able to pick up their real sneakers at the FUTROGRADE show.

In total, the Puma metaverse will open three portals for users, one of them will serve as an entrance to the NYFW digital show.
