Glory Hole.

Lake Berryessa is the largest lake in Napa, California. This reservoir is formed by the Monticello Dam, which provides water and hydroelectric power to the North Bay Area of the San Francisco Bay Area.
The famous Monticello Dam on Lake Berryessa, is best known for its unique hydro spillway. This type of weir is a giant concrete pipe into which water flows when the lake rises. The Monticello Dam weir is also known as the Glory Hole. Water begins to overflow into the pipe when the volume of the lake reaches about 2 million cubic meters of water. For obvious reasons, swimming near the "glory hole" is prohibited.

The jellyfish Halitrephes maasi glows all shades of pink and purple in the dark, which is why it is dubbed the "firework" jellyfish.

Radial channels in the dome (up to 55 cm in diameter) through which nutrients pass form a flower-shaped pattern. This pattern reflects the light of spotlights and Halitrephes maasi shimmers with pink and yellow spots. When there is nothing to illuminate it, it drifts unnoticed in the darkness, waiting for its victims.

Olympic gold medals are actually made of silver.

According to the International Olympic Committee's recommendations, major sports awards must be covered in at least 6 grams of gold, that's all. For example, the gold content in the medals of the 2012 Olympics, which were held in London, was a little more than 1%.

The oldest tree.

It grows in California. The seed sprouted at the very end of the fourth millennium B.C., when hieroglyphics were invented in Egypt and the first cities appeared in Mesopotamia. This as yet unnamed tree is 5070 years old, belongs to the species "intermountain pine" and grows somewhere on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada in the Inyo National Forest Reserve. Its location is kept in the strictest secrecy to preserve the peace of the ancient tree from the ubiquitous tourists.

Just imagine, this pine tree is the oldest living organism on Earth! It is a contemporary of the beginning of our civilization, and the creation of the world according to the Mayan calendar. The pine was already about five centuries old when the pyramids began to be built in Egypt, and more than six when Stonehenge was decorated with stone rings.
