🔻Lectures 11-20

🔸Lec11:
The views of Ibn Qibah al-Rāzī, the prominent Imami theologian of the late 3rd Islamic century, on knowledge, designation (naṣṣ), and infallibility.

🔸Lec12:
The views of Ibn Qibah al-Rāzī as a theologian of the period of the Minor Occultation, compared with the views of hadith scholars such as the author of Baṣāʾir al-Darajāt regarding the Imam’s knowledge.

🔸Lec13:
The theological views of Ibn Qibah al-Rāzī, a late-3rd-century theologian, concerning the Imamate, the status of the Imam’s knowledge, infallibility, and designation (naṣṣ).

🔸Lec14:
Continuation of the narrations from Baṣāʾir al-Darajāt and several other contemporary texts by Imami scholars of Baghdad and Qom at the end of the 3rd Islamic century concerning the status of the Imam and his knowledge, including the views of Abū Sahl al-Nawbakhtī.

🔸Lec15:
The sources, scope, and extent of the Imam’s knowledge from the Imami perspective in the 3rd Islamic century; concluding session of the rereading of Baṣāʾir.

🔸Lec16:
Moderate and extremist views during the Buyid period based on the works of Shaykh Ṣadūq and Shaykh Mufīd; various relevant sections of Shaykh Mufīd’s Awāʾil al-Maqālāt.

🔸Lec17:
Continuation of the examination of moderate and extremist views during the Buyid period based on the works of Shaykh Ṣadūq and Shaykh Mufīd; relevant sections of al-Iʿtiqādāt by Shaykh Ṣadūq, Awāʾil al-Maqālāt and Taṣḥīḥ al-Iʿtiqādāt by Shaykh Mufīd, as well as al-Dhakhīrah by Sharif al-Murtaḍā.

🔸Lec18:
Discussion of the issue of the Prophet’s forgetfulness (sahw al-nabī); also an examination of two texts from works on the doctrines and intellectual and theological foundations of the ghulāt (extremists).

🔸Lec19:
Continuation of the discussion introducing the ideas of the ghulāt and examination of sections from the work Maqālāt by Saʿd al-Ashʿarī.

🔸Lec20:
A general analysis of the relationship between moderate Shiʿism and ghulūw; a renewed look at the topic of the “righteous scholars.”
