Behold the majestic pyramid of Giza. The British would no doubt have stolen this African treasure too if it hadn’t been too heavy! Thank the Lord!

They colonised Egypt at the end of the 19th century. The chief aim was to gain control of the Suez Canal and secure trade routes to India. But being able to exploit Egypt’s vast resources and manpower was an added bonus.

Although their presence met with deep resentment and resistance, they occupied the country for 7 decades. The last British troops were pulled out in 1956.
