Die Aufwendungen für öffentliche Sicherheit, umfassend Polizei, Rechtsprechung, Feuerwehr, Forschung und Entwicklung (F-E) im Bereich der öffentlichen Ordnung und Sicherheit, Öffentliche Ordnung und Sicherheit nicht andersweitig genannt (n.a.g) und Strafvollzug, machen 9 Milliarden Franken oder 6,1 Prozent der Gesamtausgaben aus.

Davon fallen 2010 10,99 Prozent oder 993 Millionen Franken (0,67 Prozent der Gesamtausgaben) auf den Strafvollzug; sie stiegen zwischen 2005 und 2010 von 802 Millionen Franken um 191 Millionen Franken an (+ 24 Prozent).

Bei 6'200 Insassen fallen (für die 6'660 Plätze) ungewichtete Aufwendungen von 310 Franken pro Insasse und Tag an. Gewichtet kostet 2010 ein Haftplatz pro Insasse und Tag in der Untersuchungshaft 234 Franken und im Vollzug 390 Franken.

Let we say it costs 300$, this means:

a) Among the EU Member States, the highest average annual adjusted full-time salary in 2021 was recorded in Luxembourg (€72 200), followed by Denmark (€63 300) and Ireland (€50 300).
