❗️Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issues damning report highlighting violations against the rights of Russians in Australia.

⚡️Since 2022, Australia has seen an increase in Russophobic manifestations. Compatriots and employees of Russian foreign agencies operating in the country began to be subject to threats and insults. It is important to note that all these manifestations of Russophobia openly contradict the declared ideals of the Australian state policy of multiculturalism.
⚡️In particular, the Ataman of the Australian chapter of the Union of Cossack Warriors of Russia and Abroad, S. Boikov, was interrogated about contacts with members of armed formations in the Donbass.
⚡️He was later sentenced to ten months in prison for speaking out publicly & charged with breaching a suppression order.
⚡️The reason for such a harsh decision was the social activities of our compatriot, which for a long time have been contrary to the Russophobic line of official Canberra.
⚡️As a result of such aggressive treatment using methods of intimidation and psychological pressure, an atmosphere of fear and oppression began to grow in the Russian community. Some of its famous representatives, who have always been active participants in the work to preserve the Russian language and culture, even began to demonstratively “condemn” Russia.
⚡️Only a few compatriots were ready to openly defend their views. Thus, on March 13, 2022, near the building of the Russian Consulate General in Sydney, activists of the Russian-speaking community held a rally in support of Russia and Russians, which was also attended by representatives of friendly diasporas and some critically thinking Australians.
⚡️In October 2023, the Minister of Tourism and Multiculturalism of the State of South Australia (SA) Z. Bettison announced a ban on the local folk ensemble "Kalinka", consisting of children and youth of Russian origin, from participating in the traditional November festival of ethnic communities in Adelaide.
⚡️The story was covered by leading media. Compatriots and Australians outraged by Zoe Bettison’s decision, incl. several politicians (federal senators R. Babet [4] and A. Antic [5] , President of the Liberal Democratic Party of New South Wales R. Cameron and leader of the United Australia Party C. Kelly [6] ).

Today, on 19 January (6 January according to the Julian calendar), the Orthodox Church celebrates the Feast of the Baptism of Jesus.
The baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist is a major event in the life of Jesus which is described in three synoptic Gospels of the New Testament (Matthew, Mark and Luke). It is considered to have taken place at Al-Maghtas (also called Bethany Beyond the Jordan), today located in Jordan.
In Russian Orthodoxy this feast has also become part of the cultural tradition and folk fun, because of the Russian climate. Diving into an ice hole is not an ecclesiastical rite, but priests bless this practice.
The main reason for Russian people to do it is to temper their character. Russians have been tempering their character in ice holes for more than 1000 years from the date of the Baptism of Kievan Rus in 998! Perhaps that's what makes these people so steadfast and fearless.
And hence the folk saying: "Russians never give up".
