And the Qur’aan was sent down on the twenty-fourth of Ramadaan

It was narrated by Ahmad and by al-Tabaraani in al-Mu’jam al-Kabeer that Waathilah ibn al-Asqa’ (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:

The Messenger of Allaah (sal allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

The Scriptures of Ibraaheem were sent down on the first of the month of Ramadaan. The Tawraat was sent down on the sixth of Ramadaan. The Injeel was sent down on the thirteenth of Ramadaan. The Zaboor was sent down on the eighteenth of Ramadaan, and The Qur’aan was sent down on the twenty-fourth of Ramadaan.

Classed as hasan by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, 1575.

Breaking the fast as soon as the sun sets [Sunnah of Fasting]

Sa’îd b. Al-Musayyib reports from his father, “I was once sitting with ‘Umar when a group of people arrived from Al-Shâm. ‘Umar enquired about them and how they were; he asked, ‘Do the people of Al-Shâm hasten to break the fast.’ He said, ‘Yes.’ [‘Umar] said, ‘They will not cease to remain upon good as long as they do this, and do not wait for the stars [to come out] as the people of Irâq do.’”

‘Abd Al-Razzâq Al-San’ânî, Al-Musannaf 4:225.

‘Amr b. Maymûn Al-Awdî reports, “The Companions of Muhammad – Allâh’s peace and blessings be upon him – used to be the quickest to break the fast and the slowest in taking the pre-dawn meal.”

Ibid. p226.

Ibn Al-Musayyib also reports that ‘Umar wrote to the commanders of the various regions, ‘Do not be of the procrastinators when breaking the fast, and nor of those who wait for the stars before they start praying [al-maghrib].’

Ibid. p225.

Mûsâ b. Anas reports that Anas [ibn Mâlik] used to have his slave-girl go to the top of his house, instructing her, ‘When the horizon becomes even (evenly lit, marking sunset), tell me.’

Ibn Abî Shaybah, Al-Musannaf 2:430.

Abû Al-Tiyâh Al-Daba’î reports that “he used to break fast with Ibn ‘Abbâs during Ramadân. When evening approached he would send a girl from his household to the roof [to look out], and when the sun set he would make the call to prayer (adhân). He would eat with us, and when he had finished, the call for the commencement of prayer {iqâmah) would be given, and he would pray, and we would pray with him.”

Ibid. p429.

Can men wear gold plated watches ?.

Praise be to Allaah.

That is permissible for women, but for men it is not permissible if the watch is gold or gold-plated, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Gold and silk are permitted for the females of my ummah and forbidden for the males.” If it is imitation gold but is not really gold, it is still better for a man not to wear it, to protect his honour against accusations of going against the pure sharee’ah.

From Majmoo’ Fataawa al-Maqaalaat Mutanawwi’ah li Samaahat al-Shaykh al-‘Allaamah ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him), p. 99
On the authority of Suhaib (may Allaah be pleased with him) he said:

The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa
sallam said: “Amazing is the affair of the believer, verily all of his affair is good and this is not for no one except the believer. If something of good/happiness befalls him he is grateful and
that is good for him. If something of harm befalls him he is patient and that is good for him”

(Saheeh Muslim #2999)
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Every one of my followers will be forgiven except those who expose (openly) their wrongdoings. An example of this is that of a man who commits a sin at night which Allah has covered for him, and in the morning, he would say (to people): "I committed such and such sin last night,' while Allah had kept it a secret. During the night Allah has covered it up but in the morning he tears up the cover provided by Allah Himself."

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Shaikh Ibn al-Uthaymeen said:
❝No matter how many good deeds you may have done… Don’t be amazed at your actions.
Verily! Your actions are but a few in comparison to… The rights of Allaah upon you.❞
[Sharh Riyaadh al-Saaliheen (1/575) of Shaikh Ibn al-
Uthaymeen]
Dua:
اللهم اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكْ

(Allahummakafini Bihalalika An Haramika, Wa Aghnini Bi Fadlika Amman Siwaka).’”

O Allah! Make sufficient for me what is halal (lawful) and to dispense with what is haram (unlawful) and enrich me with Your Favors so that I need no one but You.

Ya Allah mere liye Halal Rizq ko kaafi farma de, aur Haram ko dur farma de, aur teri Naimato se ghani kar de taki mujhe tere siwa kisi aur ki jarurat na ho.
Narrated Samura bin Jundab: The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, "This night I dreamt that two men came and took me to a Holy land whence we proceeded on till we reached a river of blood, where a man was standing, and on its bank was standing another man with stones in his hands. The man in the middle of the river tried to come out, but the other threw a stone in his mouth and forced him to go back to his original place. So, whenever he tried to come out, the other man would throw a stone in his mouth and force him to go back to his former place. I asked, 'Who is this?' I was told, 'The person in the river was a Riba-eater."
{Sahih Bukhari, Vol 3, Book 34, No. 298}
"Reciting the Qur'an is the most important of adhkar which should be done regularly. No day or night should be without it and it maybe attained by reciting a few verses."

Ibn Qayyim said,

“The (path) always starts with trials and tests, then comes the period of patience and reliance (upon Allaah), and the end is enlightenment, guidance and victory.”

[Shifaa’ Al-Aleel, page 247]
It is reported that Ayyûb Al-Sakhtiyânî was asked:

Is knowledge today greater or lesser [in amount]? He replied, “There is more speech today, but there was more knowledge in the past.”

Al-Fasawî, Al-Ma’rifah wa Al-Târîkh 2:136.
Rabee Bin Khuthaym (rahimahullaah) used to say:

"There is no good in speech except in nine (affairs): Tahleel (i.e. uttering Laa-ilaaha ilal-laah); Takbeer (i.e. uttering Allaahu Akbar); Tasbeeh (i.e. uttering Subhaanallaah); Tahmeed (i.e. uttering Al-Hamdulil-laah); Enquiring about good; Seeking refuge from evil; Enjoining good; Forbidding evil and Recitation of the Qur’aan."

"Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: "We believe," and will not be tested?" (Qur'an chapter 29 verse 2)

May Allaah grant us patience in adversity and meekness in prosperity. Aameen.
Ibn Taymiyyah - rahimahullaah - said: “Wealth should be viewed just like the toilet, in that you have need for it and resort to it when necessary, but it has no place in your heart.” [Reference: Majmoo’ al-Fatawa (10/663)]
Whoever taunts his brother for a sin will commit that sin.

Explained by Shaykh Fawzan HafizaHuAllah.

Student: Narrated from Mu’adh Ibn Jabal, he said the Messenger SallalahuAlaihiWasallam said:

Whoever shames his brother for a sin, will not die until he does it too.

Collected by At Tirmidhi who declared it Hassan, and its chain of narration is not continuous.

Shaykh Fawzan: Whoever shames his brother for a sin will not die until he does it too; meaning until he commits that sin which he taunted his brother for. The Muslims have sins, and they are not infallible. They are not infallible, they have sins. Infallibility is for
the Messengers. Therefore don’t take the people’s faults as a means to belittle them, mention their shortcomings and thus shame them with that. (By saying) O so and so who did such and such; mentioning his faults.
If you taunt him for his sin, then verily Allah will punish you such that you will not die until you have committed that sin. “Whoever shames his brother for a sin, will not die until he does it too.” This is as a punishment upon him.

Avoid mentioning the faults of the people. Conceal their faults. Advice, there is nothing preventing advice. Advice is obligatory, but as for condemning, the advisor does not condemn. People do not respond to condemnation, they respond to advice that has mercy and gentleness. There is a difference between advice and condemning. The person (who condemns his brother) will say: “No, this is from jealousy (for the religion)!” We say no; this is not jealousy for the religion, this is not permissible. Jealousy for the religion is for you to advise him and show him mercy, and conceal his faults, this is jealousy for the religion. As for exposing and humiliation, this is not permissible. It is obligatory to cover your brother.

Translator’s note: The permanent committee of scholars said about this narration: It was mentioned by Al Baghawi in his explanation of the Sunnah and Al Haafidh Ibn Al Hajr declared it Hassan.
