Whoever makes the worldly life their focal point and attaches their heart to other than Allāh, Allāh will confound their affairs, so their heart will not be at ease; rather, their heart will be scattered. How can someone be happy when their heart is scattered?! By Allāh, even if he possesses the entire world, he will not be happy if his heart is not at ease.

’Shaykh Uthaimeen: *The Layman in His Belief and Sincerity is Better than Many ‘Students of Knowledge.’*

Questioner: I want to ask you about [the periods of] slackness [a person goes through], its causes and the cure for it, because a person sometimes feels weakness in his [practice of the] religion?

’Shaykh Uthaimeen: It is not possible for a person to remain on a single uniform routine, even the Companions said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah! When we are with you we take heed and believe, and when we go to our families, our women and children, we forget,’ so he said, ‘A time for this and a time for that.’

It is not possible for a person to remain on a single uniform routine, but he must try to guard his heart’s uprightness, when the heart becomes good the whole body does so too.

He must leave delving into things that do not concern him.
He must leave disputing about things that have no benefit.
He must leave partisanship which has split the Ummah, and he must turn to Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic.

For this reason you will see that the layman is better in his belief [‘aqeedah] and sincerity than many of the students of knowledge, [students of knowledge] whose only concern is to criticise and refute, [whose only concern is], ‘It was said and he said [qeel wa qaal],’ and, ‘What do you say, O so and so?’ and, ‘What do you say about so and so?’ and, ‘What do you say about that book and about what so and so wrote?’

This is what causes a servant to become lost and takes Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, away from his heart, and leaves him without any concern except for, ‘It was said … he said …’

So my advice to every person is that he turns to Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, and that he leaves the people and their disagreements.

This is the best thing.”

al-Hasan al-Basrī [رحمه الله] said:

Why Has Allāh Resembled The Dunyā To Water?

Imām Al-Qurtubī رحمه الله said:

…وَاضْرِبْ لَهُم مَّثَلَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا كَمَاءٍ أَنزَلْنَاهُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ

“And put forward to them the example of the life of this world, it is like the water (rain) which We send down from the sky...” • 18:45

The wise ones have stated: Allāh resembled the dunyā to the water (due to the following reasons):

1. The water does not reside in one place. Likewise, the dunyā does not remain upon one state.

2. It is because water goes and it does not remain. Likewise, the dunyā comes to an end and it does not remain.

3. It is because no one has the ability to enter into it and not get wet. Likewise, in regards to the dunyā, no one is safe from the trials and tribulations of it and its harm.

4. It is because the water, if it is at a (safe) measure, it is a beneficial means of cultivation. And when it goes beyond the (safe) measures, it is a destructive harm. Likewise, in regards to the dunyā, that which is sufficient from it is beneficial; and that which is beyond the need is a harm.

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

إن الله تجاوز عن أمتي ما حدثت به أنفسها، ما لم تعمل أو تتكلم.

Allāh has pardoned my ummah for the evil thoughts of their souls, as long as such thoughts are not put into action or uttered.*

1] Living life is a difficult feat; further complicated by the fact that the right path is not always clear! Allah clearly states in the Quran that we don’t always know what is beneficial or harmful to us (al-Baqarah: 216); being the ignorant near sighted creatures we are!

2] Trust Allah the most High when it is time to make a difficult decision. Seek guidance from the Quran & Sunnah (al-Baqarah: 38), make your intentions sincere (al-Bayyinah: 5), and put your trust in Allah (at-Tawbah: 51). All is easy for Him!

Al-Nuʿmān b. Bashīr said, “I heard the Messenger of Allāh ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam say, ‘The ḥalāl is clear and the ḥarām is clear. But between the two are doubtful matters about which many people have no knowledge. Whoever shows caution with regard to what is doubtful, saves his dīn and his honour. Whoever indulges in these doubtful matters is like a herdsman who grazes his animals near a private preserve (ḥimá). He is bound to enter it.

Every king has a private preserve and the private preserve of Allāh on His earth are the things that He has made forbidden. There is piece of flesh in the body, the nature of which is that when it is sound, the entire body is sound, and when it is corrupt, the entire body is corrupt: it is the heart.”

Those Who Commit Suicide in the Name of “Jihad” are Actually Followers of Satan - Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan

"Those people who fall into this type of corruption never sought the council of any Islamic scholars, never learned anything from them. Instead, they isolate themselves from mainstream Muslims and privately accompany people who act as the worst “human idols.” Such people then began brain washing individuals until they eventually harbor enmity towards the public and thus carry out these types of attacks. They consider Muslims to be disbelievers, they murder them, blow up buildings indiscriminately killing both the young and old, male and female, Muslims and those non-Muslims guaranteed safety and living peacefully under Muslim laws (in Muslim nations) – all because of this corrupt ideology."

The du’ā’ of the believer for another believer benefits in two ways, when the believer seeks forgiveness for his believing brother behind his back, the angels say, “Āmīn, and for you the same.”*

The angels say “Āmīn” to his supplication and they supplicate for him. So if you, O slave of Allāh, sit on your rug in the middle of the night and supplicate to Allāh and seek forgiveness for yourself, your neighbor, and your brothers — those you know have sins — by saying, “O Allāh, forgive my neighbor so-and-so,” then the angels say, “Āmīn, and for you the same.”

"Do not put off today’s work until tomorrow, lest work accumulate & you achieve nothing"

[Munaaqib Ameer Al-Mu’mineen, by Ibn Al-Jawzi رحمه الله , p.129]
On the authority of Ibn Abbas radiAllahu anhu in a narration ascribed to the Prophet peace be upon him

❝The son of Adam has 360 [finger joints or bones or] joints and there is an act of Sadaqa which is due from every one of them every day; every good word is Sadaqa, a man helping his brother is Sadaqa, a drink of water that he pours for him is Sadaqa and removing something harmful from the path is Sadaqa.❞

Ibn Taimiyyah رحمه الله تعالى:

Verily Mankind are of two types:
The seeker of the Dīn and the seeker of the Dūnya.
So Shaytan orders the seeker of the Dīn with Shirk and Bid'ah and orders the seeker of the Dūnya with physical desires.

The virtue of praying Fajr!

The Messenger of Allaah - peace be upon him - said: “Whoever prays Fajr is under the protection of Allāh".

(Reported by Muslim)

Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

"This indicates that it is obligatory to respect the Muslims who affirm their Islam by praying Fajr, because no one offers Fajr prayer but a believer. And it is not permissible for anyone to transgress against them".

📚Sharh Riyādh al-Sāliheen (1/591)

NOTE:

Some scholars stated that the virtue of entering the protection of Allāh mentioned in this hadeeth only applies to the one who prays Fajr in congregation.
“Woe to you, purify your heart and not your outward appearance [i.e. what others can see], you are busy patching up your clothes, while you ought to be rectifying your intention.”

Ibn al-Jawzi, Seeds of Admonishment and Reform, page 164, Dar as-Sunnah Publishers
Sh. 'Abdur-Razzāq al-Badr Hafiẓahullāh mentioned that an old man came to him and said: 'O Shaykh I have not memorised anything (of Qur’ān) except for Sūrah al-Fātiḥah and Sūrah al-Ikhlāṣ and I stand in prayer every night for 2 hours.', then he began to cry and asked: 'O Shaykh is it permissible for me to keep repeating them (2 Sūwar in every prayer)?',

Sh. 'Abdur-Razzāq al-Badr said: 'Look at this one and his 'Ibādah and look at the one who has memorised all of the Qur’an yet he sleeps until Fajr prayer.'

Be mindful of Allah:

Al-Imām ibn Rajab al-Hanbali رحمه الله said:

“Whoever is mindful of Allāh when he is young and strong, Allāh will take care of him when he is old and has become weak, and will bless him with good hearing, eyesight, strength and reasoning. One of the scholars who lived beyond the age of a hundred years and enjoyed good strength and reasoning, jumped up in a lively manner one day and was asked about that. He said: “I kept these physical faculties from sin when I was young and Allāh has preserved them for me now that I am old.”
