ʿAbd Allah b. ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀṣ (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he heard Messenger ﷺ say: “Verily, most of the hypocrites in my ummah are its Qurʾān reciters.”

PLEASE DON’T JUDGE PEOPLE

You don’t know what it took someone to get out of bed, look and feel as presentable as possible, and face the day. You never truly know the daily struggles of others.

Never judge someone without knowing the whole story. You may think you understand, but you don’t.

Some benefits related to Riyā’ (showing off):

Imām al-Ājurrī (Died 360AH) states in “Akhlāq Ahlul-Qur’ān” (page 161);

“It’s important for the one whom Allāh has provided with a beautiful voice when reciting the Qur’ān to know that Allāh has specified him with a huge blessing, so let him keep in mind the importance of what Allāh has specificied him with, in order to recite for Allāh’s sake, not for the sake of people.

And let him beware of inclining towards causing people to listening to him, to receive some benefit among the listeners, for the sake of going after this world and wanting nice praises and positions from the sons of this world, whilst also performing Salāh for the kings instead of leading the people in prayer.

So whoever’s soul has inclined towards what I have warned him against, I fear his beautiful voice would be a fitnah (trial) for him. Since a beautiful voice only benefits him if he fears Allāh in private and public, while his intention is for people to listen to the Qur’ān so the heedless may pay attention, in order to strive in attaining what Allāh wants from them, and to abstain from what Allāh forbade them from doing.

Whoever emulates this has benefitted from his beautiful voice, and the people have benefitted from him as well.”

A misconception some Muslims may have is whether it’s riyā’ to do more good deeds in the presence of someone else which you wouldn’t normally do if you’re alone. Imām Ibn Muflih al-Hanbalī in “Al-Furū’” cites a narration from Imām Ahmad that he was asked this question and Imām Ahmad replied; This is the barakah (blessing) of a Muslim, i.e., not riyā’.

Also, Imām al-Ghazālī states that it’s not considered harām to show off in worldly matters, which are not associated with worship. For example, trying to show a boss at work your potential for a good position or pay rise etc…

And Allāh knows best.

A thief stole the turban of Imam Nawawi and ran away, the Imam ran after him shouting: “𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝘀𝗮𝘆: ‘𝗜 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁!!”

If you look into people, you find them in 4 categories:
.
1. Obedient to Allah and happy with their life.
2. Obedient to Allah but unhappy with their life.
3. Disobedient to Allah but happy with their life.
4. Disobedient to Allah and unhappy with their life.
.
Falling in category 1 is normal because Allah says
● ❝Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer – We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.❞
(Al Nahl 97)
.
Falling in category 4 is also normal because Allah says
● ❝And whoever turns away from My remembrance – indeed, he will have a depressed life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind.❞
(Taha 124)
.
However falling in category 2 may be the result of either of two things:
1) That Allah loves you and therefore is testing your patience to increase your rewards; this is because He says:
● ❝And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient,❞
(Al Baqarah 155)

2) Or that there are errors in your worship, sins that you commit unknowingly or sins that you aren't repenting from.
Hence Allah is testing you to make you realize your mistake, as He says:
● ❝And we will surely let them taste the nearer punishment short of the greater punishment that perhaps they will repent.❞
(As Sajdah 21)
.
However, falling in category 3 should be a red warning to one's foot slipping downwards.
This is the worst position for one to find themselves in because it results in grave punishments. As Allah says:
● ❝So when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the doors of every [good] thing until, when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were [then] in despair.❞
(Al Ana'am 44)
.
.
❝And remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers.❞
(Az Zariyat 55)

SEEK HELP FROM ALLĀH ...

When the Prophet (ﷺ), asks something from Allāh, or guides his community to ask specific thing from Allāh, he is exhorting them with seeking help from Allāh, and having hope in His favour, at the same time they have to work hard and earnestly for the accomplishment of what they asked to be removed from them.

Therefore making du'ā' should go side by side with action. So the slave strives for what will benefit him in his religion and his worldly life, and he asks his Lord to make him accomplish his need, and he seeks His help in that.

📖Allaah Will Make Things Easy For This Person

“The heart, in its journey to Allāh, Majestic is He, is like that of a bird: love is its head, and fear and hope are its two wings.

When the head and two wings are sound, the bird flies gracefully. If the head is severed, the bird dies… if the bird loses one of its wings, it then becomes a target for every hunter or predator.”

A rat 🐀 noticed a mouse-trap inside the house and asked the chicken, sheep and cow for help to get rid of it.

They all said: “the mouse-trap is the rats problem, it has nothing to do with us!.”

One day, a snake’s tail got caught in the mouse trap and as the homeowner’s wife was walking next to it, she got bitten by the snake!! 🐍

The homeowner killed the chicken 🐓 to make her chicken soup, he then killed the sheep 🐑 to feed the visitors who came to visit his sick wife and finally he killed the cow 🐄 to feed the people visiting her funeral because she died.

Your Scales, Your Account, Your Reward.

The Prophet (Salallahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said,

"On the Day of Judgement the scales will be placed and the people of prayer will be brought forward and they will be compensated according to the scales; then the people of fasting will be brought forward and they will be compensated according to the scales; then the people of hajj will be brought forward and they will be compensated according to the scales; and then the people afflicted with hardships and calamites [in the dunya ] will be brought forward and the scales will not be used for them nor will their records be brought out, and they will given their reward without any account, so much so that the people who used to be free of worries and calamities would wish that they were in their position, such is the immensity of their reward from Allah the Exalted."

SPEAK GOOD OR REMAIN SILENT!🥰🤲

Every human being is born with a pre-destined ‘word-count’. Just as our provisions, our actions, our lifespan, and our fate in the hereafter are written, so too is the number of words we utter above the ground.

Allāh says in the Qur’ān:
مَّا يَلْفِظُ مِن قَوْلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٌ
“Man does not utter a single word without an observer.”
(Al-Qur’ān, 50:18)

Words by their nature, can have contrasting effects. They can be memorable but also forgotten, they can enact change but also have no influence, and they can be a cause for a person’s eternal salvation but also their eternal damnation.

The Prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam) said:
“A person utters a word thoughtlessly (i.e. without thinking about it being good or not) and, as a result of this, he will fall down into the fire of Hell deeper than the distance between the east and the west.”
(Bukhāri and Muslim)

Imam Nawawi elaborates:
“Every legally responsible person should refrain from saying anything except when there is a clear advantage to speaking. Whenever speaking and not speaking are of equal benefit, it is sunnah to remain silent, for permissible speech easily leads to that which is unlawful or offensive, as actually happens much or even most of the time — and there is no substitute for safety.”

Therefore, remember you are being examined. Make it incumbent upon yourself, to speak only when your words are more beneficial than your silence. A rush of blood is not an excuse to speak excessively, and thus inappropriately.

Take the advice of our Prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam):
مَنْ صَمَتَ نَجَا
“Whoever is silent is saved.”
(Al-Tirmidhi)

Silence can save a person from slander, gossip, lying, backbiting, and swearing among other sins. Once the tongue utters the word, and those in your surroundings have been harmed, then begins the begging of forgiveness and feeling of regret.

As Umar ibn Al-Khattab said:
“I have never regretted my silence, as

“Allah Has Set a Measure For Everything”: Tafsir ibn al-Qayyim
In surah al-Talaq, Allah informs us that:

وَمَن يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بَالِغُ أَمْرِهِ ۚ قَدْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدْرًا

And whoever places their reliance on Allah, then He will be sufficient for him. Allah certainly makes His commands a reality. Allah has set a measure for everything. [65:3]

In one of his writings, the great scholar ibn al-Qayyim mentioned a beautiful point related to the arrangement of the three sentences within the above ayah when he said:

لما ذكر كفايته للمتوكل عليه ، فربما أوهم ذلك تعجيل الكفاية وقت التوكل ، فعقبه بقوله : قد جعل الله لكل شيء قدرا ، أي وقتا لا يتعداه ، فهو يسوقه إلى وقته الذي قدّره له . فلا يستعجل المتوكل ويقول : قد توكلت ودعوت فلم أر شيئا ، ولم تحصل لي الكفاية ، فالله بالغ أمره في وقته الذي قدّره له . ـ

When Allah mentioned that He will take care of those who place their reliance on Him, perhaps someone would incorrectly understand that to mean that Allah will take care of him as soon as he places his reliance on Him, so Allah then followed up that phrase by saying:

قَدْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدْرًا
Allah has set a measure for everything

meaning: a time beyond which a thing will not last. So Allah will take a thing on its path until it reaches the end time that He set for it.

So the person who places his reliance on Allah should not be impatient and say, “I have placed my reliance on Allah and made du’a to Him but I haven’t seen anything change and I haven’t found myself being taken care of!” for Allah certainly makes His command a reality at the time that He has set for it to happen.

Do you know you can get rewards of 7 hajj in one day?

The Prophet, صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم said: ‘Whosoever leaves his home in a state of ritual purification (wudū) to perform the obligatory prayer receives a reward like a pilgrim in the state of ihrām.’ Sunan Abu Dawud. These are five.

The Prophet, صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said: ‘Whosoever prays the dawn prayer (Fajr) in congregation, then sits remembering Allāh until the sun rises, then prays two units of prayer, will attain the complete reward of Hajj and Umrah, complete, complete.’ - Sunan At Tirmidhi This is the sixth.

The Prophet, صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ, said: ‘Whosoever goes to the mosque, desiring only to learn or teach what is good, has the reward of a complete Hajj - complete.’ at-Tabarani, classed as Saheeh by Al-Albani] This is the seventh.’”

Rulings related to Salāh Ad-Duha (Forenoon Prayer)

Meaning of Duha Prayer: Duhā is the prayer at the time when the sun has risen until Zawāl (midday).

Ruling on Duha Prayer: The Duhā prayer is Mustahab (Recommended) as agreed upon according to all four schools of thought.

Abū Dharr (may Allāh be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet ﷺ said: “…and two rak’ahs offered in the forenoon (Duha) will suffice for that.” Sahīh Muslim (no. 720)

Abū Hurairah (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “My close friend (ﷺ) advised me to do three things: to fast three days of every month, to pray two rak‘ahs of Duha, and to pray Witr before going to sleep.” Sahīh Bukhārī (no. 1981) and Sahīh Muslim (no. 721)

Is Ishrāq Prayer the same as Duha: Sālih Ibn Uthaymīn was asked about Ishrāq and Duha prayer, and replied: The Sunnah of Ishraaq is (the same as) the Sunnah of Duha, but if it is done early, from the time when the sun has risen to the height of a spear, then it is Ishrāq prayer; if it is done at the end of its time or in the middle of its time, then it is Duha prayer. But it is (all) Duha prayer

- Liqa’ al-Bāb al-Maftūh (141/24).

Time of Duha Prayer: The time of Duha Prayer is from the time when the sun has risen to a certain height, until just before the time for Zhuhr prayer.

Shaykh Sālih Ibn Uthaymīn defined it as being from a quarter of an hour after the sun has risen until ten minutes before Zhur prayer.

- Ash-Sharh al-Mumti’ (4/122).

The best time to Pray Duha prayer: The Prophet ﷺ said: "It is preferable to offer Duha prayer when the sun’s heat has become so intense that even the young of the camels feel it." Sahīh Muslim (no. 748).

The scholars defined this as being when one quarter of the day has passed, i.e., halfway between sunrise and Zhuhr prayer.

- Al-Majmu’ by Imām al-Nawawī (4/36) and Al-Insāf by Imām Mardāwī (2/136).

How many Rak’āt (units of Prayer) is it:

Minimum: The minimum is two units of prayer. The above narration of Abū Hurairah is evidence for this.

Maximum: There two opinions on the maximum:

1 - The maximum is 8 units of Prayer: This is the view of the majority scholars.

Their evidence: Umm Hāni (may Allāh be pleased with her) said: "The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ got up to do ghusl, and Fatimah screened him. Then he took his garment and wrapped it around himself, then he prayed eight rak’ahs of Duha prayer." Sahīh Muslim (no. 336).

2 - The second view is that there is no limit and one can pray as many units of prayer they can: This was the view of Imām At-Tabarī, Shaykh Ibn Bāz and Sālih Ibn Uthaymīn.

- Zād Al-Ma’ād (1/351-352), Ash-Sharh al-Mumti’ (4/85-86)

Their evidence: 'Aishah (may Allāh be pleased with her) narrated: Allāh's Messenger ﷺ used to pray four Rak'at in Duha prayer and increase (the number of Rak'at) as much as Allāh willed. Sahīh Muslim (no. 719).
