"when lizzo said "self love is survival" and when hannah gadsby said "do you understand what self-deprecation means when it comes from somebody who already exists in the margins? its not humility. its humiliation" and when mitski said "i used to rebel by destroying myself, but realized that's awfully convenient to the world. for some of us our best revolt is self preservation"
when audre lorde said "caring for myself is not self-indulgence, its self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare" "

unscheduled post:
general self care reminder
take your meds, drink water, check if you need food/are in an uncomfortable posture, take off the binder if applicable (no more than eight hours per day, not sleeping in it, one free day per week, and not using it if you feel pain or find breathing harder than usual), and look outside of the screen (through a window or to a wall, for example) for a whole minute

"this hack will save your teeth: there are no "right" and "wrong" times to brush your teeth
[...]
honestly this hack will solve most of your problems. just stop assigning meaningless "right" and "wrong" to tasks and start saying "i can pretty much do whatever i want whenever i want and society and its expectations dont really matter to me"
if there's no barrier in the first place you dont have to get over it
you can always begin again. any hour, any moment can be the beginning. you can choose that. the clock doesnt run you, you run the clock"

"in my life, most things were fleeting
there was always not enough time
not enough money
because there was always not enough...
our house only knew how to speak one language too
the language was anger
there was always enough to go around
it was free and easy to give away
our house always had some in stock ready
my father was a steady supply
i saw my mother keep her's in a jar that's always never empty"

"my brother and i got jars too, eventually
we didnt know what to do with it so we just copied them and filled it up slowly
by breaking things during arguments
saying only the most hurtful things you can come up with on the spot - like it was a contest
we were getting really good at it.
just like them
since being on my own i've been better
but sometimes i find small jars in my pocket
that i have to remind myself to throw away"
