📜 The First Islamic Epigraphy in Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦

The earliest Islamic epigraphy in Bosnia seamlessly transitioned from stećci to nišans, preserving medieval literacy and art. These early nišans closely resembled upright stećci, featuring carved figures of humans, deer, horses, birds, swords, bows, flags, and rosettes. The innoscriptions, written in bosančica, mirrored those found on stećci, proving the deep cultural continuity.

🔹 "This is the marker of Sulejman Oškopica."

🔹 "Blessed be the hand that carves and writes."

The first nišans (15th-17th c.) stood alongside stećci, blending local traditions with Islamic influences. Their existence reminds us that cultures do not erase each other but evolve together.

Corrupt and dubious people from the Global South, with the support of X (Elon Musk), are spreading online hatred towards Muslims in Europe, whether they are native or from the Global South. It is no secret that the United States and its oligarchs have taken an antagonistic stance towards the continent as a whole, and Muslims have become their ideal target for spreading instability and possible violence across Europe. All Muslims should be aware that the plan for the destabilization of Europe is real and that oligarchic social media monopolies have their guns pointed at them. Ideally, majority-Muslim countries should develop their own alternatives to X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, etc., since these platforms are tools for socio-political outcomes.

Over strong Arabic coffee, journalist Yehia Ghanem learned of the motivations of foreign fighters in the Bosnian war:

Coffee and the crusades

Once there, I met Abu Al Walid, the Algerian leader of a band of 25 mujahedeen who were fighting in that part of Bosnia. Some of his men were Algerian; others came from elsewhere in the Middle East.

It was an unusually cold autumn night in 1994 and we sat around a fire, drinking strong Arabic coffee, on one of the many hills surrounding the city of Zenica, 70km north of Sarajevo.

Abu Al Walid had a face that looked as though it had been carved from stone. He seemed to be in his early 40s and had spent six years fighting in Afghanistan. He was well-mannered but fiercely disciplined, and his men, who ranged in age from their mid-20s to early 40s, were like copies of their leader.

We spoke animatedly. They were clear about who they considered to carry the ultimate responsibility for the massacres committed by the Serbs in Bosnia: the West, led by the US.

From their perspective, the US could have stopped what they considered to have been a four-year massacre of the Bosnians at the very beginning. Their logic was simple: when the West had wanted to put an end to Serbia’s war against Slovenia in 1991, it had taken them just a matter of days. It had taken a few months to end Serbia’s war against Croatia. This, they reasoned, was the West teaching the Croats an overdue lesson for siding with the Nazis during World War II. But, as the Croats were Christians, such a lesson couldn’t be permitted to drag on for too long. In contrast, Abu Al Walid argued, the Serbs “were given four years to finish off the Bosnian Muslims”.

🇧🇦 Strengthening the Domestic Defense Industry

BNT - Factory of Machinery and Hydraulics in Novi Travnik continues to grow as a key player in the defense industry of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

🔹 The company produces mortars, howitzers, tank cannons, and aircraft guns, unmatched anywhere else in the Balkans.
🔹 Once on the verge of bankruptcy, BNT has recovered and now employs 430 workers, with no outstanding debts and continuous expansion.
🔹 In the past year, 130 new workers were hired, and 50 more positions are currently open.

All products are currently for export, but having the technology and capacity for domestic defense production remains essential. Connecting the domestic industry and ensuring long-term stability is crucial for the benefit of all citizens.

🇧🇦 In these uncertain times, a strong national defense industry is a necessity.

Eduard Freiherr Böhm Ermolli inspects the first Bosnian-Herzegovinian Regiment at Hodowam,14 December 1916. Whilst many tales of the Bosniaks in WW1 were created on the Italian (Isonzo) front, many Bosnians (mainly the first and third Regiment) fought on the Eastern front agains the Russians, as well. The fighting was brutal and costly, yet the Bosnians preserved their elite status even in times of great hardship. By the end of 1917, the Bolsheviks would tear Russia apart in their seizure of power, reciprocating in chaos for the Russian troops on the front. Some units disbanded, the others kept fighting until the end. Russia officially signed the Brest-Litovsk treaty in March 1918 thus ending their participation in the Great War. The war cost them more than 2 million dead and nearly 5 million wounded.
