⚡️ Didn't Go to the Olympics, but Won Anyway!

📰🏊‍♀🥇 Reigning world record holder Evgeniia Chikunova will be officially announced at Russian competitions as a "two-time winner over the Olympic champions", despite the fact that she did not even participate in the Olympics.

👀 The All-Russian Swimming Federation made this decision based on the fact that the 19-year-old athlete showed a better result at the Russian Cup in April than the winners of the Paris Olympics in the 100 and 200 meters breaststroke.

"For the next four years at all-Russian competitions, we will announce Chikunova as a two-time winner over the champions of the 2024 Olympic Games," Vladimir Salnikov, President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation, told Match TV.

🪙 In addition, Chikunova will receive a cash reward of 4 million rubles, as the All-Russian Swimming Federation promised to pay Russian athletes 2 million rubles for each result at the Russian Cup that exceeds the results of the Olympic winners.

🇷🇺🏆 Nevertheless, during the broadcast of the Olympic Games, the Russian flag was shown during the final women's swim - at the moment when Chikunova's world record in the 200 meters was displayed on the screen.

⚡️ Welcome home, adventurers!

📰🇷🇺✔️ Tomsk travelers complete three-year round-the-world expedition! The resort town of Anapa welcomed the team of round-the-world travelers who returned to Russia after a large-scale three-year expedition called Russian Ocean Way.

🚤🗺 Tomsk extreme travelers repeated the routes of the first Russian explorers and navigators of the 19th century. On an inflatable sailing trimaran under the flags of Russia and the Russian Geographical Society, the crew covered about 32,000 nautical miles (about 60,000 kilometers).

🌏 The travelers visited the ports of 32 countries, from Finland to the Fiji Islands, Socotra (Yemen), and Turkey. The athletes dropped anchor off the coast of Anapa on July 30, but due to customs procedures, they were only able to disembark on August 1.

“Returning to our native land, the air smelled of borscht and dumplings, okroshka and shchi, daisies and dandelions!” said the head of the expedition, Evgeny Kovalevsky, jokingly.

⚡️ Miracle Glove!

📰🇷🇺💊 Specialists at the Moscow Research Center of Neurology have patented an innovative training glove that addresses two important issues for neurological patients: restoring motor functions of the fingers and improving short-term memory.

🧤 The glove, designed like an ordinary model with five fingers and a cuff, is equipped with 25 colorful markers that play a key role in the rehabilitation process.

🟥🟢 On the palm side of the glove, there are 15 markers, while the back side features 10, each of which can take various shapes: from circles to triangles. During exercises, patients practice by touching one marker to another, which not only develops their motor skills but also helps memorize the names of the markers and their colors.

📣📈 Developers claim that the new method makes the process of restoring mobility and memory interesting and engaging, turning it into a real game. This approach can significantly boost patients' motivation and improve treatment outcomes.

🇷🇺📍 «Patmos» is a small island with steep rocky slopes on the Katun River. It is located on the outskirts of Chemal, in the Altai Republic, in Russia.

🔖🇷🇺 It is named after a small Greek island of Patmos, where the holy apostle John the Theologian once lived and prayed. The island was consecrated in 1855, and in 1915, the old John the Theologian Church was moved here from the village of Chemal.

🌉 It is connected to the mainland by a suspension pedestrian bridge about 15 meters high above the Katun River.

☀️ During the summer season, many tourists visit Patmos Island, sometimes causing "traffic jams" as everyone wants to take an impressive shot on the bridge!)

⚡️ Too Loud!

📰🇷🇺👮‍♂️ The St. Petersburg police have developed and implemented a mechanism to hold accountable drivers who intentionally increase the noise levels of their cars and motorcycles' exhaust systems.

"The Northern Capital has become the first region where the police have created and implemented a working mechanism to hold drivers of 'loud' vehicles accountable," the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region said.

⛔️🔈 Over the past weekend, during the testing of the new mechanism, 15 vehicles with excessive noise levels were identified. The owners of these vehicles have 10 days to fix the violations, otherwise their vehicles will be deregistered and their license plates will be canceled. Driving such a vehicle will then result in the driver's license being revoked.
