⚡️ The Arctic Council has resumed cooperation with Russia

🇷🇺 The Arctic Council, which had previously suspended contacts with Russia due to the situation in Ukraine, has once again invited its representatives to participate in online working group meetings.

🤝 According to the Finnish publication Yle, this decision may reflect a growing recognition of the need for cooperation with Russia among Western countries.

✔️ The meetings, which began in the spring, are taking place at a technical level. Meetings with Arctic ambassadors have not yet resumed, indicating some caution in the relationships.

🗣 Finnish Ambassador Petteri Vuorimäki explains that climate change poses a more serious threat than political tensions. Addressing environmental issues requires the participation of all Arctic states, including Russia.

😀 The Arctic Council suspended its contacts with Russia in March 2022. Its membership includes seven NATO member countries, including Canada and the United States. The resumption of interaction with Russia could be an important step in addressing global climate challenges, despite existing political disagreements.

🏔️ Elbrus is the highest point in Russia. Its height is 5642 meters above sea level.

📍 Elbrus is located on the border of Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia and is considered a dormant volcano. The last eruption of Elbrus occurred around 2000 years ago. Despite this, it is hard to call it dormant, as it regularly demonstrates its activity. We can only hope that it will "sleep" for a long time to come.

🚡 There is also an 8-seat cable car on Elbrus, which brings climbers up to an altitude of 3847 meters in 30 minutes, which greatly helps them.

🌅 The Sasyk-Sivash Lake in the Republic of Crimea is among the most beautiful natural places. In the north, its water is freshwater, while in the south it has a high salt content. The pink color is achieved through carotene produced by microorganisms.

🦢 In the northwest of the lake, there is a freshwater section. There are many swans there, which can be fed by hand. If you wish to take a photo, the swans will be happy to oblige.

🌸 The richest shade of Sasyk-Sivash occurs in July and August. Swimming in the lake is not very comfortable: it is shallow and has a lot of mud. However, enjoying the pink landscapes is a pure delight!

Ufa is known for having never been captured by an enemy throughout its entire history. The most serious siege occurred during the Pugachev Rebellion when a peasant army besieged the city for four months, but the fortress walls held strong.

🇬🇧 In English, a similar expression is: "Fear makes the wolf bigger than he is."

🧐 Both proverbs emphasize that fear can distort our perception and lead to incorrect decisions.

🧐 Yekaterinburg, founded during the reign of Peter I, was conceived as a simple provincial town for metallurgy and the arms industry. However, over its 300-year history, it has changed its name twice, become the capital of the Ural region, and emerged as a key industrial center, even surviving a gold rush.

Starting in 1817, the gold rush led to the rapid development of the city: by 1823, there were 80 private mines operating in Yekaterinburg, and one in seven residents was engaged in gold mining. This "golden age" brought immense wealth to local merchants, who built luxurious estates and hosted grand festivities, and rumors suggest that some of them even bathed their horses in champagne.
