🔖 Samara is a city with a rich history, founded in 1586 by Prince Grigory Zasekin as a fortress on the Volga River. Over time, Kuybyshev Square, named after one of the Bolshevik leaders, has become the largest square in Europe, covering 17 hectares.

🚀 Situated on the banks of the Volga, Samara attracts tourists with its long promenade — the longest in Russia. It is not only a resort city but also an important center of the space industry, where the "Progress" factory manufactures rockets for launching Russian satellites.

🏙 Samara harmoniously combines historical heritage with modern technologies, creating a unique atmosphere where the past meets the future.

🏙️ The expression "Moscow stands on seven hills" became popular around the same time as another famous phrase: "Moscow is the third Rome."

⛰️ This saying appeared in Russia in the 15th century, during the reign of Ivan III. The city of Rome was built on seven hills, which formed the foundation of the Eternal City and were one of its main symbols.

🌄 Thus, by analogy with Rome, Moscow was also referred to as being built on seven elevated areas of land.

📜 The first mentions of the Moscow hills date back to the 16th century. Their names were recorded in ancient documents. For example, the first hill, Borovitsky Hill, was also called Makovitsa, meaning "the top." It was the tallest and most significant because the Moscow Kremlin stood on it.

🇷🇺 Russia, Krasnodar Region

📍 Not far from the village of Monastyr, on the Adler-Krasnaya Polyana highway, there is the Deep Yar waterfall, known as the Dragon's Mouth. It is hidden in the crevices of the Krasnodar Mountains, so it remains little known to tourists.

🏙 Rostov-on-Don, founded in 1749 as a customs point on the border between Russia and Turkey, has a rich history. Notably, the Liventsovka settlement, a.k.a. Don Troy, dates back over 3,000 years.

🧐 The city uniquely lies across two continents: the southern bank of the Don River is in Asia, while the northern side is in Europe, a source of local pride.

🌉 Known as the "Port of Five Seas," Rostov connects to the Black and Azov Seas and, through canals, to the Caspian, Baltic, and White Seas. Additionally, it features Russia's first retractable railway bridge, enhancing its distinctiveness.

🇷🇺 Russia is ousting France as the main wheat supplier to Morocco

🏆 In August 2024, Russia took the lead in soft wheat exports to the Moroccan market, exporting 192,000 tons. France, which has long been a leader in this segment, only supplied 33,000 tons during the same period.

🇫🇷 The reasons for these changes are linked to a historical drop in harvests in France and growing wheat consumption in Morocco. Other significant players in the market include Romania and Ukraine, with a total import of about 100,000 tons in August 2024.

📁 These changes highlight the dynamics of the global grain market and shifts in trade flows, which may affect prices and the availability of wheat in the region.

🔖 Prince Konstantin Vyazemsky, who visited Tomsk in 1891, noted: "Tomsk is one of the largest cities in Siberia, located on the banks of the Tom River and on a high ground. In the center of the city, there is a hill from which one can see the entire city, which resembles the Acropolis of Athens." He compared Tomsk to Athens not only by appearance but also as a cultural center, symbolizing education and scholarship.

🏙 Today, Tomsk is a student city with a large number of universities. About a quarter of the population consists of students, which gives the city a youthful atmosphere.

🏫 Tomsk State University, founded in 1888, is also located in Tomsk. It is the first university in Siberia and one of the oldest in Russia.
