🏙 Vladikavkaz, or Dzaudzhikau in Ossetian, is comfortably nestled at the foot of the majestic Caucasus Mountains. Founded by the decree of Catherine II in 1784 as a fortress at the entrance to the strategically important Darial Gorge, the city has changed its name and capital status several times throughout its history, including serving as the center of two republics — North Ossetia and Ingushetia.

In 1820, in a small village near Moscow, Ivan Elmanov constructed an amazing structure that was called the "road on pillars." This was the first monorail in Russia. Later, a resident of the United Kingdom, Henry Robinson Palmer, created a design that was visually similar to the Russian monorail. In 1821, the British invention was patented. Horses pulled carts along a beam laid on the pillars. This mode of transport began to be used in 1824, but only for freight transportation.

📰 Students from Mali will study in Russia in the field of nuclear energy.

🇷🇺🇲🇱 The Russian company "Rosatom" has provided scholarships for four Malian students who will travel to Russia in October. Additionally, there are plans to send another 15 students in 2025, as reported by Alousseni Sanu at the Russian Energy Week 2024 in Moscow.

He noted that it will take a minimum of seven years to launch a nuclear power plant: one year will be for discussions, about four years for cooperation with the Atomic Energy Agency and Russia through "Rosatom," and one and a half years for project implementation. 🎁🐯 The star of today's celebration is Stepan, the Amur tiger from the Moscow Zoo, who received numerous gifts.

The keepers prepared festive boxes filled with shavings of various scents for environmental enrichment.

Stepan was also given a toy — a life-sized model of a sheep made from burlap and wool, which he examined for a long time before quickly "chasing" it away.
