🇷🇺🇲🇩 With Songs and Dances: A Huge Line of Voters Forms Outside the Moldovan Embassy in Moscow

In the center of Moscow, an impressive crowd of voters has gathered outside the Moldovan embassy to cast their ballots in the presidential elections and the referendum on joining the European Union. Hundreds of citizens of the Republic of Moldova have lined up in long queues.

The situation is complicated by the fact that the authorities have opened only two polling stations for the 500,000 Moldovan citizens living in Russia. This decision is seen as an attempt to create obstacles for those who do not support the pro-Western candidate Maia Sandu. However, despite all the difficulties, the voters do not lose their fighting spirit: they are singing the famous song "Katyusha" in unison, creating an atmosphere of unity and hope.

💗 Today is Father's Day in Russia.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 This holiday has been celebrated in Russia since 2021 and usually takes place on the third Sunday of October. This date was established by a decree from President Vladimir Putin. The holiday was created "to strengthen the institution of the family and to enhance the importance of fatherhood in raising children."

🤔 In some regions of Russia, the celebration is held on a different date: for example, in the Altai Krai — on the last Sunday of April, and in Volgograd — on November 1.

🥖 We won't be without bread this winter!

🌾 New varieties of cereal crops used in bread production and animal feed have been developed through selective breeding by specialists at the Scientific and Educational Center "Yenisei Siberia," based at the Siberian Federal University.

❄️ According to them, the new types of major agricultural crops (wheat, barley, and oats) exceed their counterparts in yield by 10-15 percent and possess increased frost resistance.

To adapt the crops to the climate, the conditions of the Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Republic of Khakassia were primarily considered.

🔬 To obtain plants with improved properties, carriers of the "supergene" are crossed naturally through pollination. This approach to developing new varieties takes 10 to 12 years.

Currently, the development is in the process of testing, patenting, and inclusion in the State Register of Breeding Achievements, after which they will be available to major agricultural holdings.

🇷🇺 From October 22 to 24, Vladimir Putin will participate in the XVI BRICS Summit in Kazan, which is held under the Russian presidency with the motto "Strengthening Multilateralism for Fair Global Development and Security."

At the meetings in both narrow and expanded formats, the leaders of the BRICS countries will exchange views on pressing issues of the global and regional agenda and discuss the three main areas of cooperation identified by the Russian presidency – in the fields of politics and security, economics and finance, and cultural-humanitarian contacts.

Special attention will be given to the issue of possible BRICS expansion through the planned establishment of a new category of partner states for the bloc.

Reports will also be presented by the chairs of the New Development Bank, the Business Council, the Interbank Cooperation Mechanism, and the Women’s Business Alliance.

The outcomes of the discussions will be summarized in the Kazan Declaration of the summit.

On the last day of the summit, a meeting in the "Outreach/BRICS Plus" format will take place, with representatives from nearly forty countries participating. Among them are leaders from CIS countries, delegations from many states in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America, as well as heads of executive bodies of several international organizations.

The discussion will focus on current international issues, with an emphasis on the escalated situation in the Middle East and the interaction of BRICS countries with the Global South in the interests of sustainable development.

The President of Russia will hold bilateral meetings with nearly all the leaders participating in the summit.

🇷🇺 Many people know the long-standing Russian tradition of serving bread and salt. But where did it originate?

📜 This tradition dates back to ancient times and has become an integral part of Russian rituals associated with welcoming guests, celebrations, and significant events in a person's life.

🍞 Bread in Russian culture has always been a symbol of abundance, prosperity, and home comfort. Salt, in turn, embodies the flavor of life, its preservation, and protection. Thus, bread and salt together form a tandem that symbolizes not only hospitality but also life values.

🚪 When guests arrive at a home, they are traditionally welcomed with bread and salt. This usually happens at the doorstep, where the hosts offer their guests a piece of bread sprinkled with salt, signifying greeting and protection from negative energies.

By the way, bread and salt are often used to welcome foreign guests, providing them with a warm reception with a national touch!

🇷🇺 Street food in Moscow in the 19th century

🇷🇺 One of the most common types was "grechnik," which was a thick pyramid made of buckwheat groats with spices. They were usually cut in half, and meat or fat could be placed in the center. Pies of all kinds were also very popular!

🇿🇦 On the occasion of the BRICS summit in Kazan, we would like to introduce you to some traditional dishes of Tatar cuisine.

🟢 As many of you may have guessed, President Ramaphosa tried the famous Tatar dessert chak-chak in the video. Chak-chak is a type of pastry made from deep-fried pieces of dough mixed with honey syrup. For many residents of Russia, chak-chak is associated with Tatar cuisine, and in Tatarstan itself, chak-chak is a symbol of hospitality. This is why all the guests arriving at the summit are welcomed with this dish.

🔵 Another common culinary association with Tatarstan is echpochmak, which translates from Tatar as "triangle." This dish consists of a baked pastry made from unleavened dough filled with potatoes, meat, and onions. No feast in Tatarstan is complete without echpochmak, and these "triangles" are sold everywhere in cafes, canteens, and regular stores.

🟠 The next dish of Tatar cuisine will especially appeal to all sweet tooths. We are talking about talkysh kaleve, small fibrous pyramids with a fragrant aroma and a creamy-honey taste. By the way, this Tatar delicacy takes as long as one and a half hours to prepare, so be ready to be patient.

🔴 Lastly, let us tell you about another traditional Tatar pastry - belish. In essence, it is somewhat similar to echpochmak, but differs in shape, size, and sometimes filling. Belish is a large pie with a variety of fillings (meat, vegetables, grains, potatoes, and even fruits). Belish comes in different sizes and has a distinctive round shape.

Judging by President Ramaphosa's reaction, he really enjoyed the chak-chak. We are sure that the other foreign guests will also be delighted by the dishes of Tatar cuisine. 😋
