🖼🌊 "The Ninth Wave" is one of the most famous paintings by the Russian artist Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky, created in 1850.

This work is considered one of the greatest masterpieces of marine painting and reflects Aivazovsky's skill in conveying the power and dynamics of the sea.

The painting depicts a powerful storm at sea, where large waves crash down on small boats. In the foreground, sailors can be seen trying to save their comrades. The most pronounced attention is drawn to the "ninth wave" — the highest wave, which, according to maritime legend, is considered the most dangerous.

The scene conveys a sense of panic, struggle for survival, and chaos under the onslaught of nature. The bright, dramatic colors emphasize the tension of the moment and create an impression of strength and unrest.

📌 Interestingly, Aivazovsky never painted marine landscapes from life: all his marine paintings were created from memory.

🚀 Space Food

🇷🇺 The first experiment with space food was conducted during the flight of the dog Laika in 1957. An automatic feeder with wet food was provided for her.

🇷🇺 During the flights of Yuri Gagarin and German Titov, the needs for food were also studied. Dishes for them were sealed in tubes and airtight packages. Flying crumbs and droplets could be quite dangerous.

‼️ It turned out that even with relatively low energy expenditure in weightlessness, at least 2800 kcal per day was required.

🔎 «I wasn’t too thrilled about spending the night at Bush's ranch. He had to figure out what would happen if he let a former intelligence officer stay with him. But Bush himself is the son of a former CIA chief. So we were in a family circle and felt pretty good».

Ⓜ️ The Moscow Metro is not only a convenient and fast way to get around the city, but also a source of numerous legends and rumors. The most grandiose of them is the story of "Metro-2," a parallel underground network built during the Soviet era in case of war.

🇷🇺 According to various sources, the "Metro-2" project was developed in the 1930s. The main idea was to create a secure transportation network capable of ensuring the safety of high-ranking officials in the event of a military threat. Construction began under Stalin, and some stations, it is rumored, were built beneath the Kremlin and several other strategically important sites.

💬 Researchers and journalists report that "Metro-2" includes several lines and stations that do not appear on official maps. One of the most well-known stations is "Kievskaya," which, according to rumors, is connected to underground passages leading to the Kremlin and other important buildings. Other alleged stations include "Smolenskaya" and "Arbatskaya."

👻 Rumors about "Metro-2" have spawned numerous myths. Some claim that the metro network includes not only stations but also entire underground cities where high-ranking officials can take refuge in emergencies. Others tell stories of encounters with security and even mysterious "ghost trains" that run along empty tracks. Of course, ghost trains do not exist, but it sounds eerie and intriguing.

What do you think, is "Metro-2" a myth or a reality? Share your thoughts in the comments!

🚩 Symbol of Soviet industrial design.

🔖 The production of Soviet faceted glasses began on September 11, 1943. It is believed that Vera Mukhina, the author of "Worker and Kolkhoz Woman," was part of the group of its developers.

💎 The facets provided additional strength to the tempered glass and made it easier to place such dishes in dishwashers. The number of facets could vary from 16 to 20.

😦 The "classic" example is considered to be the glass with 16 facets. It was convenient to measure the volume — the part with facets held 200 grams, while the rim with a round edge held 250 grams.

🙊 There is a legend that it appeared during the time of Peter the Great. The glass was gifted to the emperor by the Vladimir glassmaker Yefim Smolin. The tsar supposedly appreciated the item highly, noticing that it was very convenient to use such a product while on a ship: even if it fell off the table, the miracle glass did not break.
