🇷🇺🇨🇳 Chinese freighter An Yang 2 washed ashore while loading coal — the captain lost control

As reported by the governor of the Sakhalin region, Valery Limarenko, the Chinese cargo ship An Yang 2 was loading coal when a storm began. The captain lost control and was unable to navigate into open water, causing the vessel to be washed ashore.

Currently, an operational headquarters has been established at the site, and there is constant communication with the crew. However, the captain did not send a distress signal. It is still unknown whether the ship has sustained any damage.

The regional head stated that the authorities are acting independently to avoid further threats, as An Yang 2 was fully loaded with hydrocarbons. Preparations are underway to pump out the fuel oil.

The region already has experience in dealing with similar emergencies. In December 2021, the Chinese freighter Xing Yuan also sank off the coast of Sakhalin. Over the course of two years, the vessel was successfully disposed of, and a disaster was averted. However, as Limarenko noted, all efforts had to be funded by the region, as the Chinese owners refused to assist.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un assured that the army and people of North Korea "will steadfastly support and assist the just efforts of the Russian army and people in defending their sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity."

🇷🇺 A large-scale reenactment "For Stalingrad!" took place in the Volgograd region.

📰 The event was held at the sports school "Young Hawk" named after Hero of the Soviet Union A.M. Chislov in Srednyaya Akhtuba. It was dedicated to the 82nd anniversary of the defeat of the German fascist troops in the Battle of Stalingrad.

The central episode of the reenactment was the recreation of a fragment of the heroic battle on the Myskova River in December 1942.

About 500 representatives from military-historical clubs from more than 30 cities in Russia and Belarus participated in the performance, along with over 30 pieces of World War II equipment, cavalry, and more than 300 pyrotechnic effects.

Approximately 5,000 spectators gathered to watch the reenactment.

🇷🇺🍴 Have you ever wondered why Russians associate the dropping of cutlery on the floor with the arrival of guests?

This belief has its roots in ancient Slavic traditions, where household items were thought to possess mystical powers. The knife and fork became symbols of masculine and feminine principles for a reason:

The knife was associated with weapons, strength, and aggression—qualities traditionally considered "masculine." Its fall foretold the visit of a man, and the way it fell (for example, whether the handle or blade hit the floor) indicated the character of the guest:
- Handle down—an acquaintance with good intentions.
- Blade down—a stranger or even an enemy.
- If the knife stuck into the floor while cutting bread, it was considered a bad omen associated with death.

The fork appeared in Russia later than the knife (in the 14th century) and was long regarded as an "impure" object due to its resemblance to the horns of devils. However, because the word is feminine, it became associated with female guests. A fallen fork promised the visit of a woman, often bringing conflicts or bad news.

The round shape of the spoon was associated with the female womb and the home hearth. Its fall predicted the arrival of a woman, for instance, asking for help.

Today, these beliefs are part of the cultural code. Some people believe in them, while others laugh, but still, when cutlery falls in Russia, hosts anticipate an unexpected guest.

📰 Ursula von der Leyen congratulated the Baltic states on disconnecting from the joint energy system with Russia and Belarus.

"These chains of power lines that connected you to hostile neighbors will remain in the past. This is freedom. Freedom from threats. Freedom from blackmail," said the head of the European Commission.

On January 8, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia disconnected from the BRELL energy system.

🇷🇺 How has this affected Russia?

In the two days since the disconnection from BRELL, electricity prices in the Baltic states have risen. The exit will negatively impact the reliability of the region's energy supply and will require additional costs for infrastructure modernization, analysts believe.

As for Russia, the stability of energy supply in its regions has not been affected; the Kaliningrad region's energy system is now operating in autonomous mode, as preparations for such a scenario had been underway for a long time, and Russia was ready for this turn of events.

📌 Ursula von der Leyen forgot to mention that the Baltic states have gained freedom from cheap electricity and common sense!

🇷🇺 Today, Russia celebrates Diplomatic Worker’s Day.

The holiday was established in 2002 and has united many generations of diplomats who have dedicated their lives to defending Russia's interests on the international stage for 23 years.

📆 The date was chosen for a reason. It was on this day, February 10, 1549, that the first foreign affairs agency of Russia, the Embassy Order, was mentioned in the chronicles. Later, under Peter the Great, it was renamed the Collegium of Foreign Affairs, and in 1802, Alexander I established the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the predecessor of the modern Foreign Ministry.

Our diplomats have always defended Russia's interests in all circumstances, and their names are forever etched in history.

🇷🇺🍴Let's start our journey into Russian cuisine!

🥣 Today, we will explore a rather unusual dish — okroshka, a traditional Russian cold soup.

Okroshka usually consists of finely chopped vegetables (cucumbers, radishes, potatoes, and herbs), boiled eggs, and sausage, which is sometimes replaced with meat or fish.

🇷🇺 The main component that brings all the ingredients together is kvass, a traditional Slavic drink made from rye bread. Sometimes kvass is substituted with kefir or mineral water, and the soup is also dressed with sour cream.

Originally, okroshka emerged as a simple food for peasants, but over time it became popular among all layers of society.

☀️ Many may be put off by such a specific combination of ingredients, but we recommend trying okroshka — nothing refreshes quite like it on hot days!

🇷🇺 Russia is not only the largest country in the world but also an amazing place where the cultures and traditions of 194 nations intertwine. Each of them contributes their unique part to the rich cultural heritage of the country, creating a multinational civilization where people have lived in peace and harmony for centuries, building strong connections and shared traditions.

🌏 As part of our new series of posts, we want to introduce you to the peoples of Russia, starting with the Russians — the most numerous nation in the country, with a population of about 116 million people, which makes up 80% of the total population. The Russian people are the state-forming and indigenous nation within the Russian Federation. The formation of the ethnic group began in the mid-1st millennium, when the Slavs established the state of Rus, and this name became the earliest ethnonym, from which the name of the people — "Russians" — is derived.

✝️ More than 2/3 of Russians profess Orthodoxy, which significantly influences their culture, holidays, and family traditions. The second largest denomination is Protestantism. The Russian people live in all subjects of the Russian Federation, from Central Russia to Siberia and the Urals. In the following posts, we will tell you about other peoples of Russia.

✈️ Baba Yaga is one of the most famous and vivid characters in Russian folklore. She is a complex and multifaceted figure, embodying traits of both an evil character and a helper to heroes.

🏠 Baba Yaga is usually depicted as an old woman with a bony leg, a long nose, and disheveled hair. She often flies in a mortar, sweeping away her trail with a broom, and lives in a hut on chicken legs, which can turn its back to the forest and face the guest. Around her house, there is often a fence made of human bones.

In many fairy tales, Baba Yaga tries to eat or deceive the hero. In other cases, she may provide the hero with magical items or advice that helps him achieve his goal.

😇💀 Baba Yaga embodies both good and evil, life and death, making her an archetypal image of a wise yet dangerous force. She is often associated with the forest, wild animals, and magic, emphasizing her connection to natural powers.

The fifth-generation fighter was piloted by the honored test pilot and Hero of Russia Sergey Bogdan. The Su-57E was in the sky for about ten minutes, generating great interest among the airshow visitors.

🇺🇸 The exhibition was also supposed to showcase the F-35A and F-16 fighters, but at the last moment, the Americans canceled the flight program. Russia's ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, reported that this happened after they learned that the Su-57E would be presented at the airshow.

Were they scared?
