😁 In Russia, a... Trump was born! But not the one you’re thinking of!

👶 A family in Novosibirsk surprised everyone by giving their newborn son an unconventional name — Trump. The parents insist: the name was not chosen in honor of the U.S. president.

“This isn’t a political statement,” explains the father. “The name has multiple interpretations. Plus, in a few years, it’ll become truly rare!”

Ironically, the baby’s middle name is Vladimirovich, adding an extra layer of uniqueness to the name.

The birth certificate hasn’t been issued yet — mom and little Trump are still under medical supervision at the hospital.

🇷🇺 Kisel – The Russian Drink That Saved an Entire City

🍓🍒 Kisel is a traditional Russian drink with a thick, jelly-like consistency. Today, it is made from berry or fruit juice, sugar, and starch, which gives it its signature texture.

However, this recipe hasn’t always existed. Kisel has been known in Rus’ since ancient times. The word “kisel” itself comes from the Old Russian words kisly (sour) or kvasheny (fermented). In ancient times, to make kisel, people fermented oat milk by mixing oat flour with water or pressing soaked grains.

🇷🇺 Oat, rye, and wheat kisels are among the oldest Russian dishes. Such kisel was thick, sour, and in texture resembled aspic (which, by the way, we’ve already written about in this section).

✍️ One of the oldest historical sources about Russia, the chronicle The Tale of Bygone Years, also preserves an incredible story.

🇷🇺 In 997 AD, during the Pecheneg siege of Belgorod, famine struck the city. However, following the advice of an elder, the residents cooked kisel from oats, wheat, bran, and honey, then invited several Pechenegs to see how the city was faring.

The Pechenegs tasted the kisel and loved it. They took some of the kisel mixture back to their camp, cooked it for their leaders, and after filling their stomachs, lifted the siege.

😋 After such a story, you absolutely must try this “life-saving” drink!

🇺🇿 The Alkonost bird is often associated with paradise gardens and divine messages. Its image is borrowed from ancient Greek mythology, where a similar bird existed—Alcyone, linked to the legend of transformation into a kingfisher.

🎶 Alkonost is depicted as a bird with a maiden’s head, often adorned with a crown or halo. Its plumage is bright and beautiful, and its voice is incredibly melodious.

😵‍💫 According to legends, the song of the Alkonost is so enchanting that it can make a person forget everything. However, its singing can also be dangerous, as it may plunge the listener into a state of bliss from which they may not wish to return.

🌊 In some tales, the Alkonost is connected to the sea. It is said to lay its eggs in the ocean’s depths, after which a period of calm ensues.

📔 The image of the Alkonost appears in Russian folk tales, iconography, and literature. It symbolizes the connection between the earthly and heavenly realms and serves as a reminder of nature’s beauty and harmony.

🇷🇺 Karavai – A Symbol of Hospitality in Russian Cuisine

Karavai is a traditional Russian bread that has symbolized prosperity, well-being, and hospitality since ancient times.

Made from wheat flour with the addition of milk, butter, and eggs, karavai is known for its fragrant and airy texture.

🎊 Often, the finest ingredients were used for karavai, as it was prepared only for special occasions.

But what truly sets karavai apart is not just its taste, but the intricate decorations adorning it—patterns resembling ears of wheat, flowers, and birds.

👰🤵 In Russia, karavai has played a vital role in rituals and celebrations since ancient times. It is traditionally served at weddings, used to welcome esteemed guests, and to mark significant life events.

🧂 In the past, sharing a piece of karavai with salt symbolized forming a bond of friendship with the host and pledging to share life’s hardships and joys.

If you want to experience the true flavor of Russian hospitality—be sure to try karavai!

🇷🇺💬 Russia is not considering any options involving the deployment of European peacekeepers in Ukraine — Lavrov

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry answered journalists’ questions during his visit to Qatar. In response to discussions about deploying European peacekeepers in Ukraine, he clarified that Russia does not consider such options. Lavrov emphasized that there will be no cessation of hostilities along the contact line in Ukraine — as Russia’s Constitution, based on the will of the people, governs its stance. Other remarks by the Foreign Minister:

— A meeting between Russian and U.S. representatives will take place tomorrow in Istanbul. The talks will focus on restoring the work of diplomatic missions in both countries.

— We await Europe to stop lying about Russia blocking negotiations. It is the Ukrainian side, egged on by the EU, that refuses dialogue.

— Inviting foreign investors to participate in Russian projects applies to the entire territory of the country under the Constitution, Lavrov stated, commenting on Putin’s proposal regarding rare earths.

🇷🇺💬 Maria Zakharova commented on the remarks by Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg, who called for using "EU levers of influence" to participate in peace negotiations as well.

📌 He stated that around €200 billion of Russian assets are held in Europe, and "there will be no deal with Russia" without discussing them.

"The only thing Vienna has achieved so far with its 'levers' is ridding itself of reliable and affordable Russian gas," the diplomat noted.
