Food security in Africa is in the spotlight!

🚤 During negotiations between representatives of Russia and the USA held in Saudi Arabia, a pressing topic was the resumption of safe shipping and grain exports across the Black Sea.

🥔 Russia is ready to reboot the Black Sea initiative, but in a format acceptable to all parties. At the same time, Russia expresses serious concern about the food security of African countries, the Global South, and the East, which are suffering from the consequences of Western policies.

🇷🇺 The Russian Federation is one of the most important grain partners for the African continent. In December 2024, humanitarian aid of 200,000 tons of wheat was delivered from Russia to Africa, and a total of 26 million tons of grain were shipped from the ports of Krasnodar Krai to African countries in 2024.

⚡️ The Kremlin has issued a statement following the negotiations in Riyadh.

"According to the agreement between the presidents of Russia and the USA, the Russian and American sides have agreed to ensure the implementation of the 'Black Sea Initiative,' which includes ensuring the security of shipping in the Black Sea, the non-use of force, and the prevention of the use of commercial vessels for military purposes by organizing appropriate control measures through the inspection of such vessels," the statement reads.

It also notes that the USA will facilitate the restoration of access for Russian agricultural exports and fertilizers to the global market, reduce the cost of marine insurance, and expand access to ports and payment systems for conducting such transactions.

These points will come into effect after:

— The lifting of sanctions on Rosselkhozbank and other financial organizations involved in these operations, their connection to SWIFT, and the opening of necessary correspondent accounts;

— The lifting of restrictions on trade financing operations;

— The lifting of sanctions on companies producing and exporting food and fertilizers, as well as the lifting of restrictions on the operations of insurance companies with these goods;

— The lifting of restrictions on servicing vessels in ports and sanctions on vessels under the Russian flag involved in food and fertilizer trade;

— The lifting of restrictions on the supply of agricultural machinery to the Russian Federation.

Other statements from the Kremlin following the negotiations:

— Russia and the USA have agreed to develop measures to implement the agreements between the presidents of the two countries regarding a ban on strikes against energy facilities in Russia and Ukraine for a period of 30 days, starting from March 18, 2025, with the possibility of extension and withdrawal from the agreement in case of non-compliance by one of the parties;

— Russia and the USA welcome the goodwill of third countries aimed at supporting the implementation of agreements in the energy and maritime sectors;

‼️ Russia and the USA will continue to work towards achieving a durable and lasting peace.

‼️ Ukraine is several orders of magnitude more important for Russia's security than Greenland is for the USA. This was stated by Sergey Lavrov.

"For the legitimate interests of Russia's security, Ukraine is several orders of magnitude more important than Greenland is for ensuring the security of the United States. We discussed this with the Americans, and I have the full impression that they understood it, and such comparisons are very important for them," emphasized the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Earlier, Donald Trump stated that he would approve a decision by the people of Greenland to have their territory become part of the USA.

🦗 The largest grasshopper in the world was raised at the Primorsky Oceanarium.

The body length of the New Guinea grasshopper is about 12 centimeters, and its wingspan is 25 centimeters. It is currently one of the largest insects in the world.

Twice a day, biologists spray the giant with water. Instead of ficus, the insects are fed fresh oak, which retains its beneficial properties better than others when frozen.

😁 For dessert, they are given small naughty kids, oranges, and apples.

😋 Muscovites are going out to eat on the streets.

Summer terraces will return to Moscow on April 1, announced the city's mayor, Sergei Sobyanin.

📆 The new season traditionally starts on this day for several consecutive years.

By the way, this year, the setup has been significantly simplified — now owners will only need umbrellas, tables, chairs, and compact floral decorations.

🤔 The only thing that worries Muscovites is whether our unpredictable weather will allow them to dine on the terraces of their favorite cafes as early as April.

🇷🇺 The history of a city is not just about monumental landmarks and popular spots.

History is best felt in the small details that go unnoticed by the average tourist.

🇷🇺 In the Russian city of Krasnodar, one such detail is the doors of old houses.

Bright and expressive, they hold the history of several generations, the story of a southern city, and the history of Russia as a whole.

Tungus: Guardians of the Siberian Vastness

🇷🇺 The Tungus is a generalized name for a group of indigenous peoples of Siberia and the Far East, known today as the Evenks and Evens. These peoples, with a history spanning thousands of years, play an important role in the cultural heritage of Russia and neighboring countries.

📍 The Evenks and Evens are dispersed over vast territories, from the banks of the Yenisei River to Sakhalin. In Russia, their numbers are approximately 38,000 Evenks and 22,000 Evens. Their lives are closely connected to the taiga, tundra, and mountainous landscapes, which have shaped their unique adaptation to the harsh climate.

The ancestors of the Tungus migrated from the Baikal and Transbaikal regions, gradually settling in the eastern areas. Their history is marked by interactions with other peoples of Siberia, Mongols, and Russian pioneers.

🏹 The foundation of Tungus life has historically been reindeer herding, hunting, and fishing. Their nomadic lifestyle is reflected in their portable dwelling—the chum, covered with reindeer skins. Clothing made of fur and leather, adorned with beads and patterns, protected them from the cold and symbolized their connection to nature.

😒 Their spiritual culture is deeply intertwined with shamanism. Shamans acted as intermediaries between worlds, healing and conducting rituals. Their folklore is rich with myths, legends, and heroic epics passed down through generations.

📔 The Evenki and Even languages belong to the Tungus-Manchu family. A written form based on the Cyrillic noscript was created in the 1930s; however, today the languages are endangered due to the dominance of the Russian language among the youth.

📌 Today, Russia actively implements state programs to support indigenous peoples, including the protection of territories, languages, populations, and educational programs.

🖼 Africa in Russian Painting: "The Transfer of the Sacred Carpet in Cairo"

Although the Russian Empire paid more attention to Europe, African events were also reflected in the works of Russian artists.

👀 For instance, Konstantin Makovsky captured an African ritual in his painting "The Transfer of the Sacred Carpet in Cairo" in 1867. The canvas depicts a solemn procession with the kiswah carpet intended for the Kaaba in Mecca, and a festive gathering of pilgrims in Cairo.

🇷🇺💬 Some people in the West do not understand Russia, but that does not prevent it from living and developing, noted Vladimir Putin at the Youth Forum "Movement of the Firsts."

According to him, Russia has many friends both in the West and in the East, and they far outnumber its opponents.

"The number of those who understand Russia and want to live with it should increase; effective work with youth is needed here," the head of state stated.

🤝 Vladimir Putin also emphasized the importance of helping one another. According to him, this brings a person the "highest satisfaction."

"You know what the secret is? It is to share what you have with others, to help others, to support others. In this, a person finds themselves best."

‼️ The President of the Russian Federation noted that a person acquires something not to "wither away on it." Putin is confident that the pursuit of wealth is important, but it should not be the main goal in life.

🇷🇺 Russian fighters in the Kursk region have raised an Orthodox cross that was shot down by the occupiers.

Footage is going viral online showing Russian army soldiers erecting a downed Orthodox cross by the road in the Sverdlikovo area of Kursk. Three warriors are trying to lift it, and then a fourth and fifth join them — eventually, they manage to set the heavy cross upright. The Christian symbol is battered and marked by shrapnel, but it has survived — now it stands once again on its native land, protecting it with its blessing.

📌 Together with the Russian soldiers, truth, faith, and hope are returning to the liberated land, and this footage is a vivid example of that.
