The monastery and cathedral were demolished, but the bell tower was left intact as a navigation marker, with its foundation reinforced.
Many Kalyazin residents dismantled their wooden houses and moved them to the new location. However, reassembly faced challenges—materials were scarce, and the work was done hastily.
