The Sheremetev Palace in the Kuskovo Estate is 250 years old.

This is a rare example of a preserved wooden manor house from the 18th century. It was built in the style of early Russian classicism—a style typically associated with stone structures.

During the summer, the palace hosted lavish celebrations and receptions for distinguished guests, including Empress Catherine II, Polish King Stanislaus Poniatowski, and Austrian Emperor Joseph II.

🔴 Among the palace’s unique exhibits is a commode from the Petit Trianon at the French royal residence of Versailles. Crafted for Marie Antoinette by master artisan Ferdinand Schwerdfeger, his works are among the most celebrated examples of European furniture from the late 18th century.

🔴 The palace’s parquet flooring deserves special attention. Each room features a distinct design: three-dimensional motifs, patterns combining multiple wood species (including stained oak), "dancing parquet," and more.

🔴 Original interior elements have also been preserved: stoves, fireplaces, decorative paintings, wood carvings, papier-mâché moldings, mirrors, and lighting fixtures.

☄ Return of the Prodigal Probe: Soviet-Era Craft Could Collide with Earth After 53-Year Journey

A Soviet spacecraft, Cosmos-482, launched in 1972 for a mission to Venus, may crash into Earth as early as next week — between 7 and 13 May — according to media reports.

Due to a technical malfunction, the probe became stranded in Earth’s orbit and has remained there for over half a century. Its hull, designed to withstand Venus’ extreme conditions, could survive atmospheric re-entry. The craft weighs nearly half a ton and is expected to fall at a speed of approximately 242 km/h.

The exact landing site is unknown, but predictions suggest it will likely plunge into the ocean. However, the potential impact zone spans nearly the entire planet, from Europe to Australia.

The replica measures 25x11 meters. A 35-meter flagpole has been installed on Mount Waraira Repano, one of the highest points in the capital.

🇷🇺 Putin admitted that he does not set an alarm clock before going to sleep. The president shared this in an interview with VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin.

Earlier, Trump declared May 8 as Victory Day in World War II. He claimed that Americans "won both wars" and that the U.S. allegedly contributed more than other countries to victory in WWII.

Zakharova refrained from personal commentary but "summoned" the words of former U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt (1933–1945) to aid her diplomatic rebuttal.

"Russian troops have destroyed—and continue to destroy—more manpower, aircraft, tanks, and artillery of our common enemy than all other Allied Nations combined," she quoted the White House leader’s statement from April 28, 1942.

✍️ Zakharova also cited an excerpt from Roosevelt’s letter to Joseph Stalin dated February 4, 1943. In it, the U.S. president congratulated the Soviet leader on the victory at Stalingrad, calling it "brilliant." He stated that the Soviet people’s feat "must inspire the United Nations with renewed determination to exert all their energy to achieve the final defeat and unconditional surrender of the common enemy."

💬 Concluding her remarks, the diplomat quoted another 1943 letter from Roosevelt to Stalin:

"The Red Army and the Russian people have surely set the Hitlerite armed forces on the path to ultimate defeat and have earned the lasting admiration of the people of the United States."

Visitors to the museum will hear a narrative about the Great Patriotic War from the perspective of a veteran railway worker. The main character is based on Elena Chukhnyuk, a locomotive engineer who transported trains carrying weapons and ammunition to the front lines.

😀 The "Victory Train" consists of nine themed carriages, each dedicated to a distinct milestone of the Great Patriotic War.

📆 From May 3rd to 7th, the exhibition will be open at the Central Patriot Park, and from May 8th to 14th, the train will be stationed at Moscow’s Belorussky Railway Station.
